Let me say this: I have lived here for the last 28 years, and whether or not they have "plantations" attached to the name doesn't really matter to me, still going to vote no on it. In fact: I never call it by it's hifalluten modern-misnomer. The official title is an anachronism, and I've always heard people refer to it as simply RHODE ISLAND. Trust me, when referencing the early days of the state, all of the professors, teachers, instructors, and armchair historians will still refer to it by its antiquated title, and offer it up to all the kiddies who want extra credit on their term papers.

Voting no is sure to be popular among all the pseudo-intellectuals who live downtown and like to call everything "Kafka-esque", "Freudian". and "Bourgeois". They'll be happy when this "crisis" blows over and they can get back to whatever other high brow cause they were taking up.
