News:

That line from the father's song in Mary Poppins, where he's going on about how nothing can go wrong, in Britain in 1910.  That's about the point I realized the boy was gonna die in a trench.

I don't think the BBC would touch such a project - the Tories are looking for excuses to cut them down to size and "moral guardians" like the Daily Mail are enthusiastic supporters of the cause.

Now, HBO, with their love of sex, swearing and over the top violence, on the other hand...

Perfect.  They'd string it out as long as possible too.

Maybe I should have specified the miniseries be done by the shoddily reanimated staff of the BBC from the 80's.  If the BBC is concered with morality right now, then Garth Nix's "Sabriel" might be more their speed.

Yeah, the 80s were when the BBC weren't afraid to take risks or upset the government too much.  Alasdair Milne wasn't afraid to push hard, I know some veteran BBC hands, like Adam Curtis, speak very highly of him still.  Incidentally, Milne's son, Seamus, is a fairly good reporter.

But especially of late, they've been under a lot of pressure to scale down their services, appeal to the masses and their hyporcritical sense of morality at all times, and produce middlebrow, reality TV style entertainment.

Prophecy: if a transmet movie is made, by anyone, it will be comparable to a sci-fi "Crank".

I believe this because it is the opposite of what I want to believe. And hollywood is involved.

Would Spider Jerusalem be played by Jason Statham, in this theoretical film?

Rejoice, you DON'T have to see yet another famous work of subversive comics manhandled and mashed into a 180 minute cowtow to reviews and opening day profits.  You do NOT have to see Spider Jerusalem T-shirts at walmart, or people wearing the glasses trying to rant, but only poorly mangling words in between repetitions of "fuck".  You do not have to see Warren Ellis's take on journalism becoem a fad.

ANY good graphic novel of appreciable lenght and content should not be allowed to be touched by Hollywood.  At most, BBC miniseries.  I may be proven wrong, but I've seen BBC productions that have abandoned "Good filmmaking", as the modern movie industry describes, like a flaming semi trailer full of bovine feces when it involves staying accurate to the book.

Look, asshole:  Your 'incomprehensible' act, your word-salad, your pinealism...It BORES ME.  I've been incomprehensible for so long, I TEACH IT TO MBA CANDIDATES.  So if you simply MUST talk about your pineal gland or happy children dancing in the wildflowers, go talk to Roger, because he digs that kind of shit

Jerusalem would be played by Malkovich.  End of discussion.

As long as it's done reasonably well (by reasonably well I'm talking Watchmen or LOTR) then I'll prolly enjoy it. Films of books will never do the original justice. Same goes for books of films. They're different mediums. Films are bubblegum, at least the good ones are. Deep, arty shit like fucking Fellini or Ingmar bastard Bergman is just pretentious, tedius gobshite and can go climb up it's own arsehole as far as I'm concerned. I like my books to stimulate my mind and my films to stimulate my eyeballs.

I'm up to my arse in Brexit Numpties, but I want more.  Target-rich environments are the new sexy.
