I agree, but I don't see the two as being mutually exclusive. They still deserve an official state-sanctioned holiday in their honor.

Also, weren't you in the Air Force? That's pretty close to being in the military, so thanks to you too.

Thanks, but I was just a weekend warrior. I never saw active duty and ran screaming before I could get deployed. I often wish I had reenlisted...I think my life would have been more fulfilling.

In most places I get thanked for my service the moment the person discovers I am a Soldier.
