As monkeys, we react badly when a stranger posts something insulting and off-topic in a rant, because as a stranger, we lack context of your intent.  And, we don't like it when people shit on other people's content* for no apparent reason.

When we react badly, we tend to throw poop and curb-stomp the offending party.

Thanks for the definition, I had no idea I was breaking formal etiquette, sorry. I also completely mistranslated the insults as jokes because I couldnt understand why they were being thrown at me. I still dont really understand how its offensive but I suppose I havent hung around here long enough to see for myself. Im actually pretty interested to learn how my actions are "clone-ish", I currently have a view that some kind of mental network exists between all us humans - maybe you could call it "monkey network" - making it sort of impossible not to share certain behaviours and thought patterns.

And Im not new to forums (although I havent really been on any since I was a bit younger, I spent a good two years not long ago with no internet at all - its seriously changed in alot of ways in just two years!), and the some of the people and topics you get on this forum are unlike any other in alot of ways (in some ways its the same ). Ive read a little bit of discordian literature and I know better than to come on here and not expect some conflict but I also hope I can learn alot from being on here. To be honest if I come on a discordian forum and get confused I consider the purpose of the excercise fulfilled.

And Im a female. Maybe you should reconsider your own "speculations beyond the data" :P

Discordianism =/= outlandishness. We aren't a bunch of court jesters. I don't know what you read, but if you came expecting levity, you may have misunderstood it.

Well, the main thing I got from the discordian texts wasnt that it was all laughs, but I found alot of meaning in the laughs that it provided. If anything the best thing thats come of it is that eris is gonna flick shit in your pudding, whether invited or not, so you might as well have a laugh about it. The overall impact of this philosophy seems to be that you can take the shit that life inevitably throws at you whilst having a bit more fun in the process.
