I think she definitely had a strong voice.

I just wasn't really ever into any of the songs she sang. 

Especially that one she did for the Summer Olympics.  that one just downright annoyed the shit out of me.  It was EVERYWHERE.

I liked her voice, and hated her songs.

There is no reason to stay at the top of your range for 90 consecutive seconds, unless you are singing opera.

She had a great voice.  Pity she destroyed it.

Also a pity that the voice was all she really had.  All that money, and nothing to live for.

I'm guessing she was just surrounded by a lot of yes-men who didn't have the courage to stand up and tell her she was in some real trouble.  I think that's why celebrities have a particular rough time of it.  When you are at that level of addiction, you really need to have people in your life who can tell you that things are really going south and that you need to get hooked up with some professional help.

Kinda the point I was making, in a roundabout way.  If I were that fucked up, I know I have people I can count on to give me the ass-kicking I needed.  Therefore, despite the fact that I gotta scramble to make the rent, I consider myself better off than she was.

God, yeah. I always thought her songs were such a waste of a good singer.
