Robin Hood Theory - Gangstarr

On my afternoon trip to Tim Hortons to pick up some joe I heard a cover of the Alice in Chains song "Would?" by Opeth.

Which just confirmed my theory that Opeth are the single most boring metal band in existence.  Only they could manage to suck all of the life out of that song.

Yep, and I don't even need to hear the cover.

One of the few prog-metal bands who have the technical chops but who can also write a song with a little soul.

FACT.

RWHN, you might dig on the band I'm listening to right now. They're called "Skiller" and like all the other good bands in existence right now, they're Australian.

Cool, thanks, they definitely have a good sound.  I'm getting a sort of At The Gates meets Galactic Cowboys vibe from them, with a dash or two of groove.  I'll have to track down some more stuff from them.

The album I have is called "Novels of Suburbia", and there really isn't a bad track on it. Dunno if they have any other stuff out.

Oops. They're Swedish, not Aussie. And they have two other EPs out apparently.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know

I was hearing this song on the radio and I really liked it, so I decided to see if it was up on youtube, being so new, and lo! the video is so fascinating that I can't even stop watching.

My wife's friend just tipped us off to them.
the album is pretty good!
that song is a fairly potent earworm...

I just heard this for the first time last night and it was so catchy that it distracted me right in the middle of my turn at shuffleboard and caused me to blow a shutout when I was leading 20-0.

Since I ultimately won anyway and kept my 18 month long unbeaten streak alive, I decided I like it.
