Just bought the textbook for my IP Law class. It's softbound and cost approximately a dollar a page.

I feel like that was the first lesson...

I wonder how many people will come to class with a torrented copy on their computers.

The second lesson is - it was out of date at time of publication

:lulz: I feel a little bit that way about my Principles of Behavior Analysis book.

Also, I already bought my geology book, and they changed it, so I need a different one. Hazard of buying early, I guess.

Oh, and the kicker is, I could get a used copy for $50... without the access card, which of course is the part I actually need.

Just spent the last four days carting boxes and furniture up a narrow, crooked staircase. Then driving a couple of hours to get more furniture and boxes to repeat the torture.

Cleaner failed to appear for end-of-lease clean, so now we have a somewhat disgruntled landlady to work with. Told her we are happy to forfeit the bond for her to arrange cleaning, but she has very little time in the city when she comes to inspect, so would greatly prefer that we arrange it. Trying to leave on good terms, so frantically scrambling to arrange for house to look reasonable in the next couple of days.

Then we can settle in to the new place and relax, right?

The first thing I am doing is replacing that staircase and burning the old wood in a giant bonfire. Fuck those stairs.

:lulz: I, too, have a weird narrow staircase, but I kind of love it.

The first two steps are 10cm apart. The third step is 50cm from that. The fourth barely 20cm. This lack of pattern continues until the top. All of the steps are sloped forward as if it got halfway into deciding to convert into a slide and got stuck.

OK, mine is nowhere near that bad. That sounds... uniquely awful, or perhaps designed to deter invaders.

I think the latter.

The stairs at the back are paved with unfixed paving stones, which overhang the edge of the step somewhat, so when you stand on them the paving stones come free and throw you down the stairs.
