Quote from: Faust on August 08, 2026, 09:25:44 AMYep, people have voted with their wallets.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we got him"

The problem is I dont agree with the court of public opinion on this, and think the end result is stupid, and shit.

Quote from: MMIX on August 09, 2026, 08:39:00 AMYep. I love how we have become societies where we demand higher standards of personal behaviour from people who write comic books than from politicians and presidents or attorneys general . . .

Is anyone surprised?

The obscenely wealthy own the ball and the ballpark. You will not worry about billionaire pedophiles, you will follow the thundering herd of tumblristas against George Takei and Warren Ellis.

Never mind that Takei was exonerated when the person who complained basically admitted he was trying to make money off of the notoriety.

I don't see a problem with believing the victim first.  But eventually, I have to see some evidence.  If that evidence isn't forthcoming, then I start questioning the narrative.

I am told this makes me part of the problem, etc, etc, and why can't I wear a safety pin in my lapel to show my commitment to Sparkle Motion™?

Yep. The proof of the pudding is in the evidence

If you bitch about politicos they use it to generate "sound and fury" and then get their "friends" to look the other way while they bank the profits that accrue. If you are a writer . . . well, ask Gaiman how good his "brand" is atm, and in your own words " from what I can see [Ellis's] comic career has dried up. "
My point is that for whatever reason there no longer seems to be any comeback on politicians. Maybe there never was and I'm just hankering for the good old days when actions and missteps had consequences . . .

Quote from: chaotic neutral observer on February 16, 2026, 02:16:59 PMBeware of belief in statements which immediately appear reasonable, and you are inclined to agree with, but for which you have no evidence.

That is how fad diets star

Fixed that for you

Quote from: Faust on October 17, 2025, 07:57:38 AMIt begins the outward normalisation of the transition from republican party, to white nationalist party, they want people to know, they want to get to the point that that they can come out of the closet with that.

Fortunately I think they're rushing that a bit.  All the MAGAts I've talked to are still opposed to nazis, and the KKK.

 . . . no true MAGAt . . .

I love that leon claims to be a fan of Adams. Its like all his other claims - he bought the book but he didn't get the message. He's just a pointless Golgafrinchan who needs to catch a bug real soon

Jebus christ almighty! Talk about Kakistocracy! That tangerine tosspot has only gone and said he's going to nick Gaza 'cos its prime seafront property. LOL. If I was Greenland I would be shopping around for a nuclear deterrent, and Oh Canada, are you in the firing line now

Yes I do realise that he has been saying this all along but apparently nobody believed him - well not enough, anyhoo. Hope those fence sitters in Dearborn are enjoying the show . . .

Yeah well didn't he who shall not be named say he was going to torpedo NPR? And I can't agree about the Guardian - though I believe the US version is slightly different than ours. I cancelled my subscription when they helped to take down Corbyn, cheered on by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Board of Deputies of British Jews, and that little charmer Mike Pompeo who promised US Jewish leaders that Corbyn would be stopped. So my list of trustworthy sources is virtually non-existant.
Hey, d'ya want a laugh? Guess who started to come off anti-depressants after 50 glorious years on the day of the Presidential debate? My partner says she can tell I'm off them because I am getting increasingly snippy. I honestly can't think why . . .

Damn it to hell Howl don't you ever get tired of being right!?
Just a quick quote from the never published introduction to Animal Farm [pub. 1945]
"If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear."
Of course he was talking about the freedom of the press which, considering the shit we are all currently in, is somewhat ironic.
