The problem I've encountered with a lot of really confrontational guerilla philosophy is that when you start forcing someone to realize that everything they've build their entire life around has been a waste, and a torturous one at that, they start disagreeing with you simply out of principle; they take your words of enlightenment as an insult to them, their life and what they've done with it. Once you reach that point, it becomes significantly harder to shake them out of their shells, because now not only are they dealing with getting over the fact that they've wasted their life, but now they've made a mental association between the philosopher and someone insulting or mean.

"shit...... this sucks" and if theyre the right kind of human worm baby OR a little guy (like me) maybe, just maybe, theyll do something to change .... something.

i even got in a semi argument w/ a friend of mine last night cause i was talking about cost of living vs. the pay here. she agreed but didnt want to do anything to change anything.

You're trying to speak for a huge demographic and utterly missing the point.

What you don't seem to understand is that by insulting people we capture attention. I don't think most people take this personally, you whiny hippie. I think a lot of people will just think this doesn't apply to them and read it from an amused 3rd party standpoint until they reflect on it or have a realization on their way to their cubicle weeks later.

Another possibility is that if someone DOES identify as the chump then all they need to do to release themselves this uncomfortable identity is to start doing things they care about or enjoy.

Besides, no one's forcing anyone to do anything. 

They read it or they don't read it.
If they read it and are offended, fuck em if they can't see the joke they are in.

Another possibility is that if someone DOES identify as the chump then all they need to do to release themselves this uncomfortable identity is to start doing things they care about or enjoy.

But they won't, though. If they were capable of doing so they'd have done it already. Normalicy and under-the-radar behavior are deemed sacred in common society, and as soon as you call someone out, they scramble back into hiding like a roach in sunlight. The only way to force someone's eyes open is if you monitor them and keep on them, and keep on them, and keep on them. Otherwise they'll allow themselves to forget the incident ever happened and continue along with their cublicle job.

I think that's overly general.  Sure, some people aren't going to want to make waves.  While others will.  Yet, others may start to explore different ideas, and different ways to think about things.  Like a seed was planted.  Besides, the goal isn't overnight revolution.  Things have to happen in steps.  Pieces like the OP offer a first step.  People can take it or not.  But if you don't draw attention to the stairwell, they'll never know its there.

There is no "one best approach"

you'll get some people being inviting and friendly
you'll get some people being harsh and confrontational

if you ask me, the "best approach" is a full-spectrum attack. I've put up hundreds of flyers this year. Most of them are nice, light, and funny. Some of them are rude, callous, heavy, or challenging. My motion is to approach from all angles, rather than just hoping I'm hitting the pedestrian's one psychic weak spot.
