Was listening to 'The Gil Evans Orchestra plays the music of Jimi Hendrix' but I stopped.

Gil Evans? Great arranger

Jimi Hendrix? Legendary guitarist

Put the two together? Nasty crap. I don't know what the hell happened.

Was it All Along the Watchtower?  If so, it is safe to blame it on Bob Dylan.  In fact, it is probably safe to do that anyway.

Cynicism is a blank check for failure.

Jimi wanted to work with Miles Davis and Gil Evans. Someone (possibly Alan Douglas) tried to work out a Jimi & Miles hook up but Miles Davis assumed (not incorrectly) that Hendrix was pulling in some major coin and that he should get a sizeable check for such a session.

Other members of Miles' band got wind of this and said 'If he's getting a big wad of cash, then I want one too!' and so the whole idea was canceled over money.

Right before he died, Jimi was in touch with Gil Evans again and wanted to work something out. In fact, if Jimi hadn't be so Spinal Tap as to choke on his own vomit, he would've flown to NY and met up with the great arranger, Evans.

Cut to about 1974, Jimi is dead and Gil Evans decides to arrange Hendrix tunes for his jazz orchestra. Somehow they manage to make the songs sound more dated than the originals. It's cheesy 70's cop-show/porno funk.

Because I am a big fan of both Hendrix and Miles Davis, I thought that this would be a great CD. A friend got it for me for Xmas in 1992. I listened to it once, thought it sucked and shelved it. Lately I've been in the mood to listen to all my Hendrix CDs. I took this one out, got 1/2 way through and still hate it.

PLASTIKMAN

always great. this is 'consumed'. DAMN!! (some of the remixes from this album will disembowel you!!)

I was chilling to "Closer" last week, after watching Revolver. This sort of thing always makes me want a better sound system :)

Shall play Consumed later today. I'm not really familiar with that album.

THE FIRST TIME

that i listened to this album, i thought, it seems as if you're hearing your neighbours, or your roomate, kick out beats from the other side of the wall.

CLOSER

          by joy division?

A Day To Remember - I'm Made Of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?

Apparently, I'm not supposed to like this band because they're not cool enough and possibly some trendy kids like them.

Whatever.

Current 93 - The Seven Seals are Revealed at the end of Time

which... you know, is one of his good songs.
Along with , I Have A Special Plan for This World

And while I think those two songs are good, they're both kind of a rehash of this:

Which, I suppose, is what I'm actually listening to at the moment I post this.

The Epoxies - Radiation

I believe it was LMNO who recommended the Epoxies to me ages ago, and I finally picked up some of their stuff. I LOVE IT.

YEAH

David Tibet can be great when he's on it. sometimes he's like a broken record though. I kind of wish he'd never appeared on any of the Death In June records, except for maybe 1888. He sort of dulls the Douglas high.

MY FAVES

are still earthcoversearth and swastikas for goddy. Sleep has his house and Imperium. I actually have way too much Current 93, it's kind of rediculous.

I like David Tibet, but when he's bad he's reaally bad.
The new album is ok, though.
