Demolition Squid

I've usually heard it in a context of 'managed to lie my way out of trouble'.

'I blagged my way past the police officer' or 'he tried to blag his way out of being fired, but it didn't work', that sort of thing. I've never heard it used in another context, but I'm mostly london-based, I can believe it means other things up'tut north or in the wilds of the south.

There is no South in England.  After Cornwall (which is still North), you're in the ocean.

I've come to hate the word "literally" because a lot of people use it incorrectly.  Sean Hannity is one of the worst offenders.

"Authentic," "artisan," "communal," "workers'" (the possessive), "awareness."

"Blag".

English verb, "to rip off, rob, or steal".

Yeah, typically used online because "repost" or "share" isn't pretentious enough.

I can see that, in terms of "raising awareness," which usually means "Sharing" something on FaceBook.

I hate the word YOLO.

That's a new one since before the last pre-Bearman post.

I think YOLO is funny and douchey. And then I learned about Lesbian-owned YOLO color, so now I have this whole entirely different association with it, which is earth friendly! http://www.yolocolorhouse.com/#2

Oh man.

:lulz: Yeah that kinda changes things

also
You

Owls

:lulz:

That is what YOLO means to me, anyway.

Blag used to mean "get into something for free" down here. Like getting free stuff or onto a guest list for a club or gig or summat..

Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.

Raising "awareness" has meant all flavor of stupid shit in my life, including "protesting the Iraq war in a town full of hippies and no decision makers" and "Kony 2012." Also, it's Pinktober and I'm pissed.

Awareness=/=action.

I'm plenty aware. I'm not doing much about it. Raising my awareness is a waste of resources and time.

Also with the Kony thing, as Cain said, removing Kony will just allow some other child conscripting douche to take his place. Congrats. You took out one scumbag and allowed another to take his place.

Oh hay. Our pro-Western dictator just got ousted by an anti-Western dictator. Let's freedom the fuck out of them, even though we couldn't be arsed to freedom the fuck out of them before.

However, "awareness" unspoken or not, was a pivotal aspect of BIP.  Becoming aware of your bars, your cell, the prison, the available paths, etc., etc.
