There's a grain of truth in their objections, though.  If Rep. Whoever had intentionally chosen his office location so that he wouldn't have to deal with the people he was supposed to be representing, that would be very bad.  (That said, it seems like people can protest at his office, just not in his parking lot because the office shares its parking lot with businesses who need said lot for their customers.)

The idea of conducting government business on private property is a little disquieting; somehow I had assumed that congressional offices were in town-hall like buildings provided by the district or state.

I actually think his office location is *better* for protests.  You can't fit 10000 screaming teabaggers (who aren't going to change his mind anyway) onto the sidewalk, but that makes it easier to get him to notice you if you're after say, telecommunication reform, where he's probably never heard a dissenting opinion from the telecom lobbyists, and letting him know what you think might actually matter.
