More importantly, didn't Iptuous or somebody design a paperclip+rubberband system that would go "BRZZZZZT!" if someone actually did remove the paper?

Yeah, that was me.
and yeah, it's like the rattlesnake eggs thing.
i looked on my machine, but couldn't find the pictures that i had of it.
it did work fairly well after screwing with it for a bit. and finding the right washer weight/size.  i think i had to print it on some cardstock paper, too, IIRC...
