So...my bracket is ranked #40 out of EVERY facebook user who filled out a bracket (several million). And none of the 39 brackets currently ahead of me has all of their final 4 teams left like I do. I think this means there's a pretty good chance I might win the $10,000 grand prize.

ECH,
will probably end up getting screwed by Cornell, though.

Some yahoo yelled at me, saying 'GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH', and I thought, "I'm feeling generous today.  Why not BOTH?"

Wow. Best of luck to you ECH.
I'd love to make you foot the bar tab next time you roll through town.

East Coast Hustle

Hell yeah. At that point we'd probably have to cross the river and hit a casino.

Also, I double-checked and did the math again and I don't just have a chance to win, I have a REALLY GODDAMN GOOD chance to win. In fact, depending on how the sweet 16 plays out it could be a mathematical certainty by next weekend.

Sir Squid Diddimus

I don't know what any of this means except the possibility of winning 10K, so good luck on that!

Lies

I dont understand any of this but good luck anyway ECH!
- So the New World Order does not actually exist?
- Oh it exists, and how!
Ask the slaves whose labour built the White House;
Ask the slaves of today tied down to sweatshops and brothels to escape hunger;
Ask most women, second class citizens, in a pervasive rape culture;
Ask the non-human creatures who inhabit the planet:
whales, bears, frogs, tuna, bees, slaughtered farm animals;
Ask the natives of the Americas and Australia on whose land
you live today, on whose graves your factories, farms and neighbourhoods stand;
ask any of them this, ask them if the New World Order is true;
they'll tell you plainly: the New World Order... is you!

"bracket" is short for "I filled out the NCAA men's basketball tournament bracket before it started with the teams I thought would win". TBH, I'm surprised at having to explain this to any americans, as March Madness bracket pools are pretty ubiquitous. Anyway, if you have the most accurate bracket at the end of the tournament out of all the brackets filled out by all the people on facebook who used the CBS Sports app to fill out brackets, you win $10,000.

pretty ubiquitous amongst basketball fans perhaps, but not amongst pasty nerds such as myself  :p

Anyway, congrats on the potential for insane winnings!

East Coast Hustle

no, it's really pretty ubiquitous in general. Second biggest gambling event of the year (after the superbowl) and causes the single biggest drop in economic productivity among american workers each year. I mean, EVERYONE fills out a bracket, even people who don't know basketball from chinese checkers.

East Coast Hustle

I have a Yahoo bracket this year and I got my ass handed to me already. Both of my final teams are out.

However, I am ranked 25th out of 59 in my group and 55th overall on Yahoo. So it could be A LOT worse.

This is true, I did it with the thingy we played on PD.com a couple of years back. My flip-a-coin method really sucked.

But I think it was football, that time. The concept is identical, however. A repeated two-value stochastic random process.
