I am back, but POEE is as the title says, deader than a dead dick. There's probably no need for a Discordian forum other than PD these days. PD's gravity is irresistable and insatiable, like a black hole of DOOM. So what the fuck are we going to do with POEE? 'Cause I have no idea.

All reasons stated above, and if nothing else for the possibility of something else.  Like you said, PD is becoming fairly standard, at least for our flavor of Disco.  This is a big step towards stagnation though, and the availability of other venues for projects, discussion, airing heads, etc., is pretty important, IMHO.  Even if they're ghost towns now, the seperation makes them valuable.

Anyone ever think about how Richter inhabits the same reality as you and just scream and scream and scream, but in a good way?   :lulz:

I have a webhost with zillions of free space/bandwidth (and a spare domain), if BIP.com/swearing forum/whatever needs a place to stay, by the way.

I do think there's a need for a discordian forum other than PD, if only because so many people don't resonate with this place.
Ah Cram, my favourite spag! :) (well, you're all my favourite spaggi.) ;)
QuoteBut maybe duplicating the exact same kind of community structure (ie a forum) is beating a dead horse with an erection. Perhaps it could be replaced with a different means of communication, ie an imageboard? Some other kind of content aggregator? I'd suggest a social networking site, but Vex just launched http://spagbook.com (and is having trouble breathing life into it already) so we probably don't need two of those.
With the content that's already there, I'd rather not take the forum down. It has always been a station to submit articles and stuff, but never really got that spirit behind it like 23ae has. I think adding moar functionality that wouldn't get used is more horse cock. :lulz:
QuoteI've always thought that we need more recruitment points - places where random spags from the 'net can get hooked into this horrible thing we're all stuck in

I've always considered PD, POEE, and EB&G to be the "big three" Discordian communities. It's really a shame that PD is the only one with a lot of juice, I always liked that each place has its own feel, it's own take on Eris.

other questions for Syn

1. Is there any way I we could have p3nt's old forum up and running? I don't see it as a place that will get zillions of members so it's not like it needs its own domain. But I do so love my swearing forum!
Yes.
Quote2. I want to hear more info about your new publishing house
Fuck. I knew you'd ask that. :lulz:
QuoteETA: 3. Could you please fix Blackironprison.com? we misses it!
Yep, one that got culled from an old server along the way. I have a backup, I just need to find the time to re-deploy it.

Even though I personally haven't been very good about visiting the other places lately, I'm with Cram and like the idea of their being different Discordian online communities.  I honestly still find it hard to believe there aren't more.  It seems like you should be able to google discordian forum and find a bunch.  Yet, we don't.  POEE, while not as busy, always had a very different feel.  Less American.  That's not a knock on this site, but, it was just a different overall lens on Discordianism.

The trick is how do you get people there?  there is so much noise on the internet, how do you even cut through anymore?

Cheers BDS, I appreciate the offer, thanks! :D I actually have a web design/hosting company on a nice shiny VPS, so I'm pretty fine for space/bandwidth.

Okay, you've fired me up. I'm gonna go clean the site down, get BIP back up and various other things.

And that reminds me. I need to replace the POEECast link with a link to: http://radiofreediscordia.org/ :D

There are two types of archives that I feel Discordia needs:

1. A record of Discordia past - something so that future discordians, researchers, & ne-er do wells, and cabbages can leaf through. Because Discordians have been generating reams of content since 1960, but finding it all is a real scavenger hunt

2. Documentation of Discordia present. There needs to be a spot to find pictures, a list of activities, and other stuff that we're doing NOW. This will give the next generation something to rebel against.

Do the POEEcasts live there now?

As I said on DoD, I'm willing to help throw some ideas around for updating / changing the mission of POEE.

I like the resources idea, as there does seem to be a serious need for a clear "storage area" for finished projects. Propaganda, writing projects, pictures, publications (ranging from Intermittens to MSY) and work in other media could be showcased cleanly and effectively.

Also, the project board(s) idea would be quite good. Though we do have the facility to do that at EB&G, some clear space to thrash out ideas for specific projects is always good. WOMP used to use P3nTs site for that, for example. It led to the epic NSFW thread and "A Fapcab Named Desire".

In the event of PD melting down for whatever technical or social reason, a backup forum for those fleeing destruction is good (Like the "Refugees Arms" thread on POEE).

An advertisement for who and what the combined communities of Discordia are up to and such is always going to be good (I reckon the .co.uk gains us a few people who may not otherwise be around, like Froggypance. And Harris, Like haggis but with more arse, only came to DoD cause he stumbled on POEE)

On a side note, I was thinking about shifting the IRC channel to another server for a while, due to the netsplits and such that were blighting maddshark, but that seems to have stabilised somewhat now. Still we could always do with more people at least visiting the channel for those dead times...
