Well, that's actually not as depressing as it probably should be.  Being one of the many, many assholes who got stuck with a criminally large loan and interest rate, I feel comforted that I'm not the only sucker who fell for the scam.

Going into school, I had no idea what any of the terms and bullshit surrounding the loans meant.  I couldn't find a single scholarship, my guidance counselor was too overburdend and disinterested to help, and my parents told me "just take out loans, they'll be easy to repay, etc."  And it fucking kills me.  Because really, I know it was my responsbility to make sure I didn't get fucked over.  I didn't think it was possible, then, and I'm learning a very very hard way.

I'm paying more monthly in student loans than rent, utilities, car insurance, cable/internet and cell phone service combined.  And I'll be paying that same amount until I'm 38.  I even make decent money, really, but just scrape within my means even living as modestly as I could imagine anyone doing.
