No I'm saying, if the article were calling her out for having black relatives, that would be kind of gross regardless of who it's about, right? There are certain arguments which don't help your case because they're based on racist or sexist assumptions.

using the media to call somebody a slut eventually makes lots of girls feel guilty and ashamed about sex

o'donnell is a shmorgasboard of fail, it's not like there's a shortage of things to roast her about

Where did I say anything about her moral high ground? I think that people are responsible for their own behavior, notwithstanding the behavior of someone else. Just because she's a hypocritical know nothing, doesn't excuse his boorish behavior.

You said that right here:

In the end, I still think the guy is the bigger asshole in this story.

In This STORY... ie the story about her being a drunk cocktease.

Right.

Because we should hold regular citizens and Senatorial candidates to the same standard.

Well... yes actually I think we should consider politicans by the same standard that we consider other people. They are, after all, just regular citizens for most of their life. In fact, they are just hairless (or somewhat hairless anyway) monkeys all the time.

Did I miss some politicans that were truthful, ethical, never involved in scandal and had no skeletons in the closet?

I think we're supposed to emulate Cicero and play nice while the teabaggers do whatever it takes.

Christine O'Donnell has not made public statements telling people not to be Black...Not everyone states that they want to regulate everyone else's sex lives (up to and including masturbation), do they?

If someone can't tell that it's the hypocrisy thing that makes this funny, then I'm afraid I can't do a damn thing to make it any plainer.

Sorry.  This shit isn't off the table when it comes to teabaggers.  I'll let you and Rat play the good guy on this one.  I'll do whatever I can to embarrass the party of curb-stomping.

Right.  You DO know what happened to Cicero, right?  And what happened to the people in the nation in which he lived?

He remained civil.  They nailed his tongue and hands above the senate door.  And the people eventually wound up with Tiberius, Caligula, Nero, Galba, etc.

I would rather have my tongue nailed to the Washington Monument than cash in my ethics so I could roll in the mud with the stupidest 10% of the country.

Ok, now I'm off to vote and hopefully keep a lobbyist out of the Governors Mansion.

How nice for you.

I have children who have to grow up in this country, so you'll excuse me if I find your egotistical martyrdom to be an unacceptable alternative for myself.

That the guy has a sexist point of view is incidental to the hypocrisy he is exposing. He's not trying to enforce his sexism on the entire nation.

And since when do people breaking scandalous news need to be saints?

I think the policies that O'Donnell supports do more to make girls feel guilty and ashamed about sex than what what some anonymous knucklehead says about O'Donnell's bush.

And that.

But I think we're supposed to wring our hands a little more, and wail about how mean it is, and how giggling at this shit is just like curb-stomping a 115 pound woman.

I did not say that anybody was calling anybody a nigger

I was saying that certain things shouldn't be used as ammo, no matter who the person is

nigger, faggot, slut, kike, etc

the dems are desperate - they stand to lose a lot in this election. That's why the media recently's been so acerbic - they have been running attack ads like crazy. But a lot of people are wondering if this is actually a good strategy - these things have been known to backfire, especially when the media gets too negative.

She wants to regulate sex, with that in her not-so-distant past?  That's perfectly legitimate ammunition.

It's worked, too.  Between that and her "I'll answer your questions when I'm senator" comment, she's lost about 4% of the middle, which may or may not be enough.
Molon Lube

what's the story with her wanting to regulate sex up to and including masturbation? I have read that she was in a wiccan anti-masturbation coven in the 90s, I haven't read that she's pushing legislation based on it.

Triple Zero

If I may step in and try to clarify, I think the point (ITT) is not to attack her by pointing out / calling her a "slut", but rather to attack her by pointing out the hypocrisy coming from the discrepancy between the things she preaches and her actions.

Then again, maybe I'm wrong, then ignore me :) (as the subject doesn't really engage me anyway)
