I don't think it's so much about how noobs are treated as it is how Cram was disrespected and shit on for voicing his opinion.

It was HOW he voiced his opinion that led me to run it back at him in a very similar, if over the top, way.

If someone posts in a sneering, condescending way - even in jest - I'm going to give them shit (in jest), just as I am given shit, and you are given shit, and anyone else here is given shit.  Rather than post about what an asshole he is - because he isn't an asshole - I, along with Charley, went on a 24 hour hippie fest binge...employing the exact same humor he employed on us.

Contrast that with my response to Cain, who voiced the exact same concern Cram did, but in a reasonable, polite manner.

If Cram can needle me, I can needle him.  Right?

Thing is, I don't think I've even seen the post of his that you're talking about. Could be because it wasn't really sneering and condescending (not like you've ever read that into a post where it wasn't actually present), or it could be because it was one post and only one post.

On the other hand, the completely overdramatic and seemingly very petulant responses to his one post (and not just by you, mind you) quickly covered several threads and turned into a completely unnecessary shitfest. So please, don't try to characterize it as though you were just giving back what you had gotten.

Oh, and dude, don't try to be all "at least I didn't post about what an asshole he is" when you changed your signature to point out in every post you made on the entire board what an asshole you think he is. I mean, c'mon.

Sometimes people forget that PD is more than ECH, DH, Hawk and Cram (plus whoever jumps into whatever argument is going).

I am sick of it myself. So sick of it that I am planning to drop Ezekial (Paynite Version) on your asses. Out of Spite I would leave the description (all 8 chapters or so) of the New Temple in.

I barely post as it is, what with sharing a computer and connection with the ever lovely Pixie. When I DO have a chance to, I'm finding I don't want to anymore.

I love Cram as a colleague (WOMP counts as work now, dammit) and as a very unique and compelling visionary of Discordia. I love Roger as the creative genius he is, he's someone that I have NEVER had any kind of argument with or any bad words with I think of him as a friend (friends are rare for me, I treasure them). I love Hawk, for all his "faults" he's an outstandingly nice guy, and with all the half bricks life has thrown at him you'd expect him to be down for the count. No he's built himself a nice little house. I love ECH for his supreme bluntness and his refusal to compromise.

I mean, I could go on, there are plenty of people to love here, and many reasons to love them. Even the assholes who piss me off occasionally have something I can get behind. Not including the out and out trolls here, of course. And there are plenty of things I hate with a goddamned passion

I don't CARE who's right or wrong. I don't CARE who wins the argument. I dont CARE if there is nothing else to do except argue.

All I know is that I am sick to the back teeth of the arguing and the disruption to a community I love, and the very real threat of PD becoming a "Routine" stop for me in my internetting as opposed to it being what it is now.

And I sincerely hope that the principles in this current argument can see that they (Hawk in particular) are conflating the argument between 3 or 4 people with the ENTIRITY of PD. It has to stop, now.

I was just about to say the exact same thing. OK, not exact, but fuckin' hell guys, can't we all just be  snarky smartarses to each other without having so much fucking DRAMA involved? It's not like there's even an argument to win here anymore, just a steaming pile of shit that needs sucking up. Everyone who weighed in here (just about) had valid points to make, everyone who weighed in here (just about) stomped around indignantly for a bit, and everyone who weighed in here, wants to see PD be all that it can be. Which it can't be if everyone gets all prima donna, and starts saying shit that turns into. This. Fucking. Drama.
Dok, ECH, Charley, and Cram, I think everyone accepts the huge investments each of you have made to PD, but you all have different visions for this place. They are not incompatible, but you are all part of the essential dynamic that makes this place what it is.
So when you get involved in this sort of Drama, everyone is affected. People get drawn in, shit gets said, and PD suffers. No-one minds a bit of suffering, if it's going to have a beneficial outcome, but  I can't see anything getting resolved here. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, and something good comes from this. Like
A/ Charley, please stop being so oversensitive, and saying you're leaving for good. No-one, not even you wants this to be the case.

B/ Dok, Get back on that unwelcoming committee, and chew some fucking n00bs up. You know you enjoy it, you know it needs to be done, and you know nobody else is up to the special blend of hate, derision, and (where necessary) welcome you bring.

ECH/ Just keep on doing what you do. 

Cram/ Have a drink, trim your whiskers, and say something totally inappropriate, then we'll all know everything's gonna be cool.

Payne and BadBeast are riding an awfully correct-looking motorcycle. I'm done with this drama. My opinion has been voiced (some might say more forcefully than necessary) and anyone on the receiving end of that opinion has already made up their mind how to react to it so no point carrying on.

And just so everyone is clear, I still consider Roger and Charley friends, and I'd still go to bat for them anytime. Hell, Roger, I consider you as good a friend as it's possible to have never actually met and Charley (because I know you can't stay away forever) I'd still like to raise a glass with you. But I don't blunt my opinion for anyone, least of all the people I respect. I hope whatever hard feelings have arisen from this don't linger too long.
