Ok ok.  I was going to continue trolling, but after three attempts to post interrupted by new responses, I just read what Iptuous wrote and decided to respond to that instead, as that level of sincerity I can respect.

Iptuous:
I agree with you wholeheartedly.  The idea of starting a new account also occurred to me, weeks ago in a different thread with a similar problem.  The problem with that idea is threefold:
First, as you can see ITT when my roommate registered an account, I'd get called out on it anyway, ruining the point.
Second, I am having a constant internal debate as to whether it's worth the effort, considering the sides of themselves people are showing here.
Third, and perhaps my biggest issue with it, is that it would feel rather dishonest to present a 'false face' as it were.

Or maybe G*A*S*P act like a fucking human being and not a complete douche and people will give you a chance?

Actually, we don't do that.

Besides, we are very forgiving, as a forum. At least, a lot of us are. If he can pull his head out of his arse, he'll be fine. If he can't manage that without a new account, it would just be a matter of time before the whole thing repeats itself. There's a certain inevitability to it :)

Um...

Have yourself a little perspective here, Dok.

Are you seriously telling Howl to get a little perspective here, after everything you've said ITT?

I have found a "sense of perspective" to be needlessly limiting.

Particularly when he says "A little sense of perspective" but means "MY sense of perspective".

Of course it boils down to "I'm right because I am me" and, well, yeah. That kinda shit ain't your bag.

As I've said before, I don't practice what I preach, because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to.

Neither are you.

I'd like to think Trix isn't, either.

Tried that before too.  Can you guess what happens?

The problem is as Ippie described.  Some people would judge a post on it's merit, individually, but all too many of you see the 'trix' moniker and knee-jerk.  Then pick out a specific, often unrelated, part of the post, and use that as fodder for the cannon.

ETA:  Not that that's what is happening NOW, at this point, but that is what began the derailment of the thread.

In case you've missed it, I've admitted, right here in this thread, right in the middle of taking shit from all sides, that some of the things I said were rather stupid.  Of course, predictably, the admission was passed over in favor of more fodder for the cannon.  Hell, several people continued as if it never even took place.

This is a social site.  That means that the usual social rules apply, only slightly modified.

If you were at a party, and you acted like an ass and people got a bad impression of who you are, it's going to take a while to change their minds.

So you have to expect that some people will still be hatin' when you post somewhere else.  So you need to be mindful of that, and conciously not be an ass for a long enough time for people's opinion of you to change.

If you are incapable of not being an ass, well... you may just want to leave the party.

so, right now there's some people that are determined to not like you.  you say something, and immediately one of these people says, 'that was stupid. you're stupid. why you gotta be stupid, stupid?'
how would you characterize your current response tactic, why is it not working, and how will you change it?

Welp, tried ignoring them, reasoning with them, and finally, mirroring their responses by flinging shit at them.

True that none of it worked, but at least the third has been pretty fun thus far.

But yeah, I see your point.  Perhaps I'll give some thought to other ways of response.
