I think killing the open bar was a mistake.

I still agree with killing the Open Bar.  Because it was fucking inane.

Sorry, I was having a moment.

"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."

Every day, I am grateful that Open Bar is gone.

Strangely enough, the board feels better, less moody, with the Bar gone.

That could be because my theme got switched from that black one to whatever this blue on is with the upgrade, too, though.

I agree with Kai.  There has been an uptick in interesting content since Monday.

Maybe it's just my bad attitude.

You do not have a bad attitude.  You are known and noted for the sunflowers that keep sprouting from your asscrack.

I knew a stripper back in knoxville that had a tiny daisy tattoo as though it were growing out of her ass crack.

truth.
We appear to be doomed by our DNA to repeat the same destructive behaviors our forebears have repeated for millenia. If anything our problem solving skills have actually diminished with the advent of technology & our ubiquitous modern conveniences. & yet despite our predisposition towards fear-driven hostility; towards what we anachronistically term primitive behavior another instinct is just as firmly encoded in our make-up. We are capable as our ancestors were of incredible breathtaking acts of kindness. Every hour of every day a man risks his life at a moments notice to save another. Forget for a moment the belligerent benevolent billionaires who grant the unfortunate a crumb of costfree cake. I speak of pure acts of selflessness. A Mother who rushes into the street to save a child from a speeding vehicle. A person who runs into a burning building to reach a family trapped on the upper story. Such actions, such moments, such unconscious selfless decisions, define what it is to be human

We'll have to find different work for the Scrid if he ever shows up again.  I suppose he could be in charge of cleaning/putting out the pool.
Cynicism is a blank check for failure.

Cramulus

I read maybe about 10% of OB when it was around.

I liked it when people had things to say. I enjoy reading about your important life events.

I'd always click on OB and there'd be something interesting, then there'd be 2 pages of posts which were like "I am eating fruit right now" and "I am having pasta for dinner" and "the library is closed! aarg!". I wore out three mousewheels on that thread!

I do miss the Scrid though. The Pool on the Roof is disgusting right now. Is he any good at cleaning?

AFK

I dunno, the old Open Bar floor was often filmy and sticky.  He'd probably just sit next to the pool and add more gasoline.

Hmm, we were talking about adding more gasoline

Okay, he's hired.

SCRID! vacation's over. Get to work!

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

The thing I like best about Open Bar being gone is not that it discourages other people's one-line inanities, but that it discourages mine. I now actually have to think about whether there is a thread/sub in which my post would be appropriate, and whether it's interesting enough to justify starting a whole new thread. Often, the answer is no.

It was a legitimate act of self-defense.  It was you or the Bar.

Every forum I'm on is dead.

It's alarming.

The world is actually emptying out. There are fewer people in existence.

Good.  I was getting sick of all the people.

Well if you stopped eating them a whole box at a time that wouldn't happen.
