I'm with you there. I don't try to put anything substantial in the Discordian Society group, it gets scrolled off the page almost immediately by somebody posting 10 consecutive youtube links and My Little Pony memes. The point of that group isn't to be a community or coherent society or writer's workshop or anything, it's basically just a link stream. That seems to be the case with 90% of facebook groups.

Eventgasm is one of those things that illustrates what i hate about internet memes. Some of them are useful and valuable but too many of them are inane frustrating and counterproductive. It seems like the most annoying ones gain the best amount of spreading. Like charley said it would have been funny once. It would have benn funny ten times. Over that youre not really thinking for yourself schmuck anymore. At least from my perspective. Youre letting the meme possess you as is rather than making someone like me go ok maybe they have a point and i should involve myself with them more. But the real problem there was (*t least with me being light on interaction) was that i didnt find much interesting going on.

Then why bother with them at all?  If they have nothing to offer, then the only thing that can come of associating with them is an inbox full of garbage.  Hell, they're too fucking brain-damaged to find someone worthy of trolling, so they're too fucking retarded to mess with.

Based on your most recent assessment, I have to concur with Twid.  They are basically Youtube cabbages, in my personal opinion.  Hell, even Mysticwicks had some people worth talking to (and eventually "converting" as a side effect).  The only 3 places I've seen that have nobody worth a damn were Church of Google (hell, Dr Goofy was okay, so scratch that one), Totse2, and FB Discordians.

Yep.  The reason I didn't go barging past totse2's ban to be a roaring jackass, Little Billy-style?  There was nothing to be gained, and nobody worth talking to.  Same applies here.

Contrast that with the much-ridiculed Pagan boards, where there was ALWAYS something to be gained (You, for example).  We couldn't leave the fucking things alone, and with good reason.

Id still be willing to use it as a platform for projects or to repost something from here. But id like to wrap up some of my current projects here and finish anarchangels album first. I dont have high expectations but copy and paste only takes me a few seconds.

Any time you add "Facebook" as a prefix to a group label, such as "Discordian" or "DJ" . . . it seems to take the ability of that person to reason effectively down to nil. I base this statement only on my own observations from a distance. It's like Facebook is an injection of group-think and hive-mind on an individual.
