Theres no way id every get on a motorcycle. He who crashes and walks away gets to rock another day.

Not that id stop anyone from riding one one but for me personally id prefer four wheel stability airbags and being surrounded by the vehicle.

It's okay, some people are better off staying home and watching tv.

#3 - when in doubt, gas it

WHAT???

1. Remove foot from accelerator
2. do nothing
2. do almost nothing. Instead, spend the time making yourself hyper-aware of where the vehicle's headed, the hard and/or expensive shit around you and what you might need to steer into to avoid the carpocalypse.
If you must hit something, pick something soft and cheap.

I have to leave the vehicle at some point dont i?

Often times, both in a front wheel drive car, all wheel drive car, or on a motorcycle, applying throttle will power you out of an otherwise "sticky" situation.  When faced with the choice of crashing, or trying to power out, then crash. Powering out is the better option.

I have been eyeballing Honda bikes since I've been 19. And not the crotch-rocket types but rather, the more-reliable, cheaper version of Harley types.

SOMEDAY...

My dad was a Harley Man and I've ridden bitch with he and other bikers periodically throughout my life. I've watched Easy Rider like 20 billion times. I was a neo-beatnik in college and from what I've seen of my time spent traveling the US, there is still a lot of fun country here I want to see. You have no idea how different it is outside the glass box. Driving a convertable gives you a CLUE...

NO.

Wait. We still talking strictly bikes? I wouldn't stall out but speeding up sounds like a bad plan.

My instincts are all car-related so my bad.

No you're not.

Actually, I was hoping for an explanation as to why driving without insurance was a dick move.

It's true I love to talk about motorcycles and I would be happy if mods stepped in so I could try to talk navkat out of a cruiser or sportbike as a first ride.

Then maybe you could, you know, start a fucking thread about it.

car or motorcycle:

rule #1 - you should be done with all braking before entering a turn
rule #2 - accelerate through turns

this is why "when in doubt, gas it" works

I have a tendency to be done with braking entering turns anyway. I had a couple of nice boys teach me how to apex my turns in a car and braking wasn't part of the lesson.

Also, I drive prefer manual so I'm used to using the transmission to slow down the vehicle when possible to save the brakes.

Tell me moar in the other thread!

Its because your insurance is the one who pays for an accident when its your fault, and your rates go up.  If you don't have insurance, then the other guy, who you fucked in the first place, his insurance has to pay for it and his rates go up.

At least I think that's how it happens.
