Fucking hell, lighten up already.

Yeah, righto. Sorry. Got some irl shit going on, didn't mean to snark.

I posted the story because I was trying to say that while I originally found the tone of the place off-putting, being a part of a project that was really exciting and cool was what brought me back, and got me posting in new contexts.

Then I sort of felt like it was taken the wrong way and I was being dogpiled for being a RAW fanboy (I haven't read his work yet but enjoyed the clips and the documentary I've seen of him) and went into emo MCR mode rather that just clafying because ive been a bit of a sensitive snowflake lately.

That's cool. And for the record, I have just about every RAW book that saw print, including the execrable "Nature's God", so if you're looking at a fanboi, you're looking at me.

I still haven't been able to find Cosmic Trigger 2 and 3...

I didn't read all of the thread but the end of it at least seems be explanations as to why people aren't around. Considering I haven't been around... totally relevant! It's not because of any changes with PD, too much fluff, not enough content, too much Facebook, having nothing to say. It's not you, it's me. I'm just getting my dose of talking to people who are smarter than I am and beating reality into those who are not in the real world at the moment. Also, there's a fuckload of hippie stomping and rock and rolling that nobody else seems to be capable of doing so I have to handle it all. As soon as I have less to do and better internet access than tethering my silly expensive phone webs, I'll be back again because I fucking love you guys.

I need to, like, add you spags to my for real Facebook because I never log in as Paesior... and while I'm getting plenty of debate and biped checks IRL, I still miss the personalities here.

Fucking hell this is depressing.  Nothing here, no-one talking on IRC...I don't even have the tards at EB&G to torment anymore.

Oh! Dirk Gently inspired by Dr Who and Sherlock sounds promising! I fetched the episodes, but hadn't had time to sit down and watch them. Maybe tomorrow, or Friday. I'm really busy these days. At least, nothing what any normal person would remotely consider busy, but I'm rather proud of it. It's a careful balance to keep everything from tumbling down again (when I apply my energy to the wrong things) so choices needed to be made, PD was among those choices in the past month.

But I won't ever really leave, don't worry :)

Soooo in the next couple of days I'll be trying to catch up with what happened in my absence the past 3-4 weeks ...

How many clones of this thread am I supposed to expect? This one reads exactly like one of the legalize-pot threads in the sense that it's the same people saying the same things. Still I had to read it anyway, because, well, just because it appears to be a really important topic for everyone. I wish I could get those 45 minutes back, though.

See, for me, and I've said this a couple of times in the past, forums are compressed in time. I can reply to a post made last week (or my promise to Dalek about getting back to him about fUSION Anomaly), someone reads it, tags it for thinking about, replies two days later, and we're having a discussion. It can also happen in the timespan of minutes.

This happens to be a property of forums that I enjoy *very* much.

If I wanted real time discussion, I'd be on IRC (I haven't been on IRC in ages either). Though for realtime chat with awesome people, you need a couple of awesome people online at the same time that want to talk.

In fact I've done the compressed time thing on IRC back in my demoscene days as well. First, you of course disable all those "X joined, Y left, Z disconnected" status messages, or direct them to a separate window. In a quiet channel, I said something, some Finnish dude replied 10 minutes later, I got back from getting coffee, typed another line, etc. At some point we'd catch eachother at the same point of our cycles and had a flurry of interactions, but because there was no pressure, if I wanted to get back to coding my real time 1200 byte speech synthesis module, no big deal I'd check back in 15 minutes and the Finnish dude wouldn't expect an immediate reply either, but return to coding his absurdist plasma scripting framework.

And all was fine.

I'm just saying, if there had been someone complaining about how #coders is dead and not entertaining them enough during their workday, Finnish dude and I would have packed our stuff and took it to somewhere else.

That's my opinion. Obviously, PD is not what it was 3 years ago. But then, 3 years ago is also wasn't what it was 6 years ago.

If PD is quiet, let it be quiet. Things may slow down, but so what? It's a fucking forum! They're *made* so that people can also just check in once every two days and reply to posts a month old. I prefer quality over quantity. One way to ensure to also crush the quality, is to obsessively filling up every silence with complaints about how quiet it is. Fourteen pages of it, nonetheless.

On the other hand, maybe, just *maybe* this'll be the only thread complaining about PD dying and being too quiet etc etc I'm going to encounter when I catch up with a month of missed posts. In which case: WELL DONE there might be hope for us yet.

Also it's great to be back and apparently I hate you all. :D

You can express meta-frustration, however

Already on it.  I expect that I'll hear more and more of this, as the people complaining about the 14 pages obviously didn't READ the pages, as most of them have nothing to do with the OP.

I am of course used to this.  I am in fact so used to it that I don't even get mad about it, anymore.

As a matter of fact, perhaps the best way to express that meta-frustration ( ) is to simply start treating people in exactly the same way they treat me.  If I am considered the source of all evil and completely untrustworthy by someone, I shall simply treat that person as they are; an enemy until proven otherwise.

I am sick to fucking death of being the default bad guy in all situations, and I have to say that the last few weeks have been a real fucking eye-opener for me, as far as who thinks I'm some sort of universal scapegoat.

Yeah, that's the problem.  Anytime, these days, that I get my head together for writing or whatnot, someone else comes along to explain that I can't be trusted, with regard to one thing or another.  I have, for example, learned that I should never offer to help on a project, etc.  Apparently, offering to help = TRYING TO TAKE OVER, or whatever.

It's getting really, really hard to maintain my composure and not go galloping off back to 2005.

Frankly, at this particular moment in time, I couldn't care less if someone thought that was my motivation for offering to help.

I just won't offer again.

Did some thinking about this.

Since we all have to post - or not post - in a way that suits Trip's once-a-month appearances, I think the best option for me is to just click "read all unread posts", and join everyone else.

That should keep him from getting all ragey and forgetting to put his finger in the dike.
