Nav's (apparent, if I understood) idea that if he is bad, he should be banned, and if he's not bad enough to be banned, we shouldn't be mean to him.

To clarify: my idea wasn't really an idea at all. It was a series of reactions that went like this:
1. [ME]: "Wait. You guys have been calling this dude a Corpsefucker NOT because it's the new, satirical, PD-meme insule like "asshat," but because HE REALLY FUCKS CORPSES???"

I might pass someone's information on to the appropriate people if I actually were 100% certain that a poster was bragging about a murder or rape that they had actually committed, but I still wouldn't ban them from PD for it.

There are even hypothetical situations where you could be interfering in a police investigation by doing so.
4chan generally hands over all data requested on its users but it doesn't ban them, it builds up a portfolio.
