They are worse than Nightwish, if that is possible.

Finntroll is really good. Can you link (youtube or whatever) to other good Folk Metal? I'm curious.

Eluveitie:  A Swiss band that plays Celtic-infused metal complete with bagpipes, flutes, fiddles, and hurdy gurdy.  Check out "Inis Mona"
http://www.myspace.com/eluveitie

TYR:  A fun band from the Faroe Islands.  Check out their treatment of the Irish standard "Wild Rover"  A good drinking song for Metalheads.
http://www.myspace.com/tyr001

Speaking of drinking songs for metalheads, Alestorm, a Scottish Pirate-Metal band.  Dr. Payne can vouch for them as well.  Another fun band.
www.myspace.com/alestorm

Turisas:  A Finnish "battle metal" band.  Metal for LARPers.  :)
http://www.myspace.com/turisasofficial

Moonsorrow:  Another Finnish band.  A little closer to the black metal genre.  Quite a bit darker then some of these other bands I've listed.
Good stuff though.

Ensiferum:  Yet another Finnish folk metal band.  Similar in spirit to Turisas and Tyr.  A little heavier than those two bands.

That's probably a good start.  :)

These are sweet! Got my morning started right. Thanx for the linx, rev!

No problem.  Next time you're in a down in the dumps mood, let me know and I will write you a prescription for some Doom Metal.   :p

One more I just rememberd as it just started to play on my computer:

Heidevolk:  A band from 000's homeland.  Pagan Folk Metal.  I don't understand a bloody word they are saying.  Very anthemic, heavy, and catchy.  "Saksenland" is a must-hear tune.

never heard of them. but check the Heideroosjes for some oldskool good natured teenage punk. although i have no idea how well they do musically, and if you can't understand the lyrics you probably miss out.

better check out Watskeburt instead. it's funny in any language.

Of course I think the best metal band to come from your country is The Gathering:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjYJvPizxXA&feature=related

I've had the privelege? of hearing a few more of the new Metallica tunes.  Hooray for Sirius Satellite Radio.

Anyway, I'm officially declaring that Death Magnetic is a big pile of "meh".

Yes the drums are still loud.  Yes James Hetfield is a crappy vocalist now.  But the biggest pitfall is that they are just trying waaaaayyyy too hard.  It sounds like they are chasing their own legacy.  They've got more money than god, they are still (for some reason) seen as one of Metal's royalty.  But they seem to think they still need to prove something.  Oh well, it comes out Friday, but I think I'll pass.  I'm going to get the new Death Angel CD instead.

I think I'll see about borrowing Death Magnetic from the internets anyway.  :|
