Very true. Wishful thinking on my part most likely.

EDIT: Wanted to thank you, TheJohnny, for not shitting on my head for wishfully thinking. Your thoughtful and reasonable response is enough to get me to recognize my own error. We'll have to see what happens on and after election day. There are some who believe Trump is a symptom of a larger disease, I happen to think they're correct. It's silly of me to think the disease is going away with one symptom treated.

Just a passing thought, but have Trump cultists gone too far? I mean it not in the way it may appear at first glance, I mean, is it ok to view our friends and family that we've since cut ties with over fanatical endorsement of a lying shitbag narcissist, as victims of a cult mentality and welcome them back as though everything is ok once all this is said and done? Or is the root of betrayal so deep that there can be no healing from it? I know what I think and feel about it, I'm just curious how others view it.

I stand corrected, I was under the impression that the pendulum could swing both ways and that the actions of the right wing have been amazingly self-destructive in the long-run, but I failed to see how one-sided it could be in the face of actually big money, which is pretty one-sided when it comes to extraordinarily deep pockets with little to lose. I thought simply of the fact that eventually the RWNJs will be out of power and their abuses of power would be siezed upon as precedent, and then the DoJ would be under different control, but in this scenario the pendulum never swings back. I'll be ok with that as long as we never endure another populist idiot reality television star, but my knowlege of human nature tells me this isn't the last time. It probably goes without saying that those kinds of idiots are an aspect of history and will come time and time again seeking power.

There's a lot of that going around lately, as well as the less extreme option of making social media websites responsible for what is published on them.

Beyond the ideological lolz, what they don't understand is that doing this would actually hurt their cause even more. You don't think Biden, Hillary Soros etc would lodge multimillion dollar lawsuits against Facebook, Youtube etc for disseminating libellous conspiracy theories the moment that became possible? Half the conservative grift would become economically unviable overnight because that grift is based entirely around telling outrageous lies about your political opponents.

THIS. Of course all one has to do is strong-arm the DoJ into action, but what happens when the pendulum swings the other way? I mean, no doubt sooner or later a number of someones really WILL get locked up. This kind of escalation can only end in a dystopian disaster. Whatever happened to "mutually assured destruction" that used to stay itchy trigger fingers? Gone the way of the past if these RWNJs keep pushing the issue.

Truth be told I just sent them all to my spam folder. I just realized you were that petty in trying to get your point across that any attempt at healing whatever rift had occurred would be pointless, and I may as well just enjoy the good parts of this forum, which are reading people's posts when they're not frothing at the mouth, but rather being thoughtful, creative, and witty. Apparently I was interrupting that so I was like, "Well, this is counter-productive."

Ah, Doc, yeah, Pence did better than expected, but it's hard not to when your running mate is a jabbering lunatic by contrast.

I see. Well far be it for me to tell you folks how to run things or to ignore tradition. Back to lurking.

We wanted to see Trump talk out his asshole for a little while longer, but now he can't since he's sick as fuck. I hope he dies truth be told, but the very destiny of our nation is at stake, for four years or so, then the republicans start puking shit out their asses again. Pence got his ass handed to him by Kamalah Harris... nothing to be ashamed of but he was literally, not prepared, and managed to get a fly stuck to his scalp.

Then we get Pence, the guy with the fly on his head.

EDIT: That was hillarious to watch actually, a friend and I were laughing our asses off about how stupid it was but damnit, that fly put on a better performance than Mike Pence.

It would be like, newsflash! The president has stopped tweeting racist bullshit. Maybe he's dead?

It would be nice if he stopped shitting on twitter for ten minutes, much less a couple days.

What the fuck did you all do? I was hoping to hook up for a weekend fling and you done fucked the dog. Oh well. I can find other dogs. That said, why does everyone want to jump on this person? Oh right, because of the toxicity present here that never leaves. Ok, you do that, I'll fart.

Fomal, I am the least person to listen to here but your experiences are important for other people to know. Unsure how the community will receive it but you should vent some all the same. It's really shitty how some people are marginalized and treated, and knowing I could've been one of those people is not an easy thing. I respect what you and people you know have endured. If you need to talk to someone through private messages then I'm willing to listen.

EDIT: But I mostly lurk here, everyone seems to hate me, possibly with good reason. I don't check here often so if you do message me a reply will almost certainly not be immediate.

Well, I admit that's a bit of a blind spot for me, as I haven't spent much time inside a mental health hospital. This is because I barely got my shit together before such time as I might be hospitalized. I've heard horror stories from people who've been inside them, and while vague, it's not pretty. I'm honestly lucky I never had that experience. Most of my experience is what you get if you get help before society resorts to such measures. I appreciate you giving your perspective and hope mine doesn't upset you.

EDIT: Now I look like I'm talking to myself because someone keeps deleting their posts.
