Title: Another old person died today
Post by: Da6s on July 25, 2009, 07:13:51 PM
And people are acting like they care.

In other news, he was the last surviving veteran of WW1. I guess now no one will ever be able to properly explain to me why the Kaiser's pointy hat pissed off a bunch of people.

He was 111. Albeit that means he was a crusty, smelly, resilient old fucker, he was still fucking 111. Plus he looked like skeletor with wrinkles.

All my friends and family have been advised to smother me with a pillow should i even hit 80/at the first sign of me smelling like cabbage.

I care too, just wanted you to know. And since your family and friends might all be dead before you reach 80 I am volunteering in their place - I'll even bring my own cabbage . . .

Yes, because people have perfect memories and don't have a tendency to forget historical atrocities like world wars at the first chance they can.

You want people who were there around so they can tell their stories. You want their stories around so nobody the fuck ever forgets.

Kai,

Wonders what you'll say when the last Holocaust survivor dies.

Depends. If it wasn't fucking illegal over here, I'd say "HOLOCAUST? WHAT HOLOCAUST?"

JUST BECAUSE I CAN

except I wouldnt because it totally happened and that means nobody in their right mind would ever make sarcastic jokes about it, ever.

What I'll probably say would revolve around me bitching about the fact the last holocaust survivor today wasn't jewish, and therefore no one cared.

Since you know, only 6 million died, and they were all jews.

And for the record, I can't stand the holocaust museum in DC for the sheer fact that 90% of the museum only covers/refers to the jewish victims, which is utter and complete bullshit.

I've a great deal of contempt for the elderly. Any and all problems in the world right now are a direct result of old people/their generations.

Plus the thought of living out the last of my days as a husk that shits myself continuously isn't something i like to entertain. I'd rather, and intend to, die young and spry.

Also, every old person in existence is an asshole who is personally and directly responsible for the world's current problems. 100% troof.

Also also, old people are all very stupid and their life experiences are completely irrelevant and worthless. The current young generation is smart, clever, important, would fucking anybody, and doesn't afraid of anything.

There are good ones and bad ones, just like young people.

I'm pretty sure everyone wants to stay pretty healthy until their death, but the sad inevitable fact is that eventually you'll degrade. How do you intend to die young? Suicide? I hope you don't procreate.

I hope to go as my grandparents went; by taking care of myself and living well and staying in shape for as long as I can, remaining healthy and active to a ripe old age, and then getting taken down quickly by an infection when I'm so aged and weak my system can no longer fight it off. My dad is 80 (or 82) and he still plays basketball every Saturday.

But Nigel, thanks to Da6s's brilliant insight, we now know that no one over the age of 65 ever did anything worthwhile with their lives, nor are they worthy of the respect that should be reserved for real human beings, a.k.a. young people.

Young people are hip, with-it, healthy, and cool. They're the only ones worthy of consideration as individuals. Past a certain age, everyone is basically the same ugly old turd and they should all be thrown into dumpsters for all the horrible things that each and every one of them did to fuck up the world for the bright and beautiful young people.

Come my fellow youngsters! Let us cast off the shackles passed down to us by the old people and start anew, because unlike previous generations of youth, we know where it's at and can make the world a better place without having to bother learning anything from anyone we consider old.

Oh, and we all have to promise to kill ourselves at the age of 60. God forbid we should cease to be the pinnacle of human physical, cultural, and intellectual progress, which we totally are.

And there came an age, an age long passed, an age yet to come, the third age, where the old did say the youth would be the end of the world, and the young did complain the elders were the cause of all misery and suffering.

Yea...did all this and more come and pass and come again.

It is a scary thought that one day you will grow old and incontinent. Of course no one likes it, but it is an inevitability that people face, which means that vainly clinging on to the notion of being spry and perfect forever will get you nowhere.

And afterall, it's not like once you hit a certain age, you start transforming into a shuffleboard-playing, white-haired monstrosities that spends its evenings watching Bill O'Reilly and gumming through reheated frozen dinners. You will still be the person you are, albeit a little bit slower and weaker. The ones that are that loathsome made themselves that way, by allowing themselves to become so debilitated that they merely stew in their own existences. There are also ones who are not debilitated by their own choosing, but by illness and general degradation. But that can strike anyone at any age, so it isn't something limited to the elderly. And of course there are many old people who do lead interesting and enjoyable lives, and regardless of what station of life they're at manage to go on quite well.

I've both legit and groundless reasons for my dislike of the elderly. If the fact the AARP is the single largest membership organization in the world doesn't raise a red flag in your mind, then i'm guessing you're colorblind. Also never mind how lax laws are against the elderly. Example: Why are the elderly still not required to take a renewed license driving test? Everyone in their right mind can acknowledge a good percent of the elderly should not be allowed to operate heavy machinery in any form.

Though I'm sure I'm just mostly bitter about the elderly because I grew up in a town where the average age was 58, and I blame all elderly people for the miserably boring existence that molded me into the snarky asshole I am today. It's like hating the god that created you, complete with all the young whippersnapper angst to back it up.

As for how I wanna go, I care not. I would be content making it to 50, and would then be ready to get off the ride. No suicide though. Unless it were a quietus, and all the other old farts had to jump in the lake with me.

I'm sorry you grew up in an environment where it was difficult-nigh-impossible to cultivate a good relationship with the elderly. An overabundance of them would grate on many people's nerves, including mine.

However, thinking and acting like it's somehow their fault for being old (and for having their own best interests at heart) is stupid and worthy of at least twice as much mockery as I've already endeavored to post.

My problems stem from the fact they do have their own best interests at heart, and their hearts are frail and have very few beats left. They're also a demographic with alarmingly high numbers (mainly caused by various era baby booms). I'm for democracy in a city-state republic sense, but I also must say democracy only works if its guided toward the preservation of a society, and not towards making things easier on those that have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

Translation: They vote about shit that is fucking my 22 year old self down the road. I'm well aware that shit rolls downhill, but if you can't control your bowel movements you really shouldn't be allowed to be at the top of the hill.

Also, to reiterate one of my chief problems with elderly, here's this:

OH SHIT. THEYRE TERRORISTS.

They're required every 6 months in Florida. And thank Bob for that, because I would have had a much harder time learning to drive.

I find old folks fascinating. The years of experiences and stories they have help shape our generation and history books into what they are today. Maybe you could have learned something from them instead of learning to hate.

Also, this is pretty much equivalent to saying "I was bullied by black kids in a Washington, D.C. public school so I'm going to use that experience to justify hating all black people forever, instead of recognizing that my deep-seated, irrational mistrust of them has its roots in a bad childhood experience. I could at least partially overcome this experience with a modicum of effort and try to develop a new perspective, but... nah."

I'm curious to see what those numbers would look like when adjusted for other factors such as annual miles driven. Because if you spend many evenings and weekends driving around for the fun of it, while older drivers are actively trying to avoid driving as much as they can or just living more sedentary lifestyles, then you're going to increase your chances of an incident irrespective of any skill you may or may not possess.

I guess younger drivers are more likely to take stupid risks and drive intoxicated. But I'm always sceptical when I see raw stats like that without context.

Also, I was rear ended by elderly Canadians, it was pretty funny and they were quite nice.
Then a year later I was rear ended by a Valencia CC student.

I don't think it matters whether you're young or old or whatever. People IN FLORIDA PERIOD do not know how to drive.
Srsly, I noticed a vast improvement in driving ability the further north I drove. Once I got out of the Carolinas it was as if suddenly everyone knew how to operate a car.

40% of accidents in orlando caused by men under 40
7%... elderly

they're also implementing an new thing here come january where if you have 3 or more accidents within a 3 yr period it's mandatory that you have to go to traffic school.

fact- college boys here cause a lot of accidents(also deadly ones). elderly are just slow in the left lane and come to a complete stop to make a turn.

Personally, due to the high number of fatalities as a result of the young being allowed to drive, I don't think anyone under 28 should be able to get a license. Self-absorbed stupidity peaks at 23, and by 28 is mostly worn off enough for people to enter society, hold rational, non-boring conversations, and safely navigate city streets in a motor vehicle.

What scares me about you, Cainad, is that at the age of 19 you are already more rational, intelligent, and non-self-absorbed than most people of 30. Yet, of course, you still have a lot of growth and maturation to do on your own personal scale. It's just a different scale from most people.

Extrapolating that out to you at 30 and beyond...  :aaa:

I would say that you will rule the world, but obviously you'll know better. You'll probably lead a quiet, comfortably unobtrusive life and periodically issue forth world-changing advice or something.

Turns out the shit they talk about is WAY WAY WAY cooler than the pseudointellectual been-hashed-to-death wankery most young people talk about, thinking that just because it's new and mind-blowing to them it's new and mind-blowing to everyone else, too.

Having recently been among high schoolers and college freshmen, I can attest that this statement is true.

(When I was younger, I was once told that I was born at the age of 35)

I like old people. It's the one advantage to getting older, is that it's easier to hang out with cool old people.

Bump!

He actually had a valid point buried in all his retardation, which was that about five million non-Jews also died in the Holocaust and for some reason most people seem kind of unaware of that.

That doesn't excuse his retardation though.

Being of the same age group as Da6s, I can sympathize a little.  Not a lot, though, since all these terrible old people who ruined everything are the same people who made my really cool life possible.

Youthful entitlement is a gripe of mine.  I'm inconveniently 23 at the moment, but I'm working on it.

You'll be surprised by how stupid you'll realize this to be when you're 45.

Yeah, the point in my rant today?   :lulz:

That's something I don't even want to contemplate. It's good having people who were there to counter the Stormfront crowd.
