The Smiler is now a Nobel Peace Prize winner.
In other news, Obama has approved a troop increase in Afghanistan.

Quoteit's a disgrace, that the bama can get a peace prize from a group for apologizing for the US to the tyrants, dictators and truly evil people in the world.
He is a sad excuse for the president of the United States. I know as a country we can do better than him and will do better than him. This should be a wake up call to all Americans to realize we have Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and whole lot of others who would be a 1000 times better than the current dufus in chief.
QuoteHe now joins the distinguished ranks of Jimmy the Peanut Farmer, Algore the climate hoaxer and Arafat the murderer.
QuoteRemember: ACORN, McChrystal, Hate Preacher, Beer Gates-poor cop a victum of prejudice, Czars power with no control-not with in the constitution, birth certificate-smoke and fire-just show it.
Went to bat for Chicago Machine on the Olympics_did he expect to share in the kickbacks
Quote"It's an award coming near the beginning of the first term of office of a relatively young president that anticipates an even greater contribution towards making our world a safer place for all," [Archbishop Desmond] Tutu said. "It is an award that speaks to the promise of President Obama's message of hope."
Wait, so now they're giving awards based on what the committee thinks someone might do, rather than what they've actually done?
Oh man. Well, this will be the Fox News talking point for the long weekend. I can't wait to see what Rush has to say about this.
Oh... oh my...
I wonder, if in reality, Obama is actually kind of pissed that he got the award. I mean, he knows people are going to go to town with this. I just looked at a poll on MSNBC and over 50% of the respondents said he didn't deserve it. MSNBC.
:news:
He doesn't deserve it. He hasn't done anything.
I definitely agree. But he's in a box. He can't turn it down. Which means his handlers are going to have to concoct the story line to lend credibility to the thing. I guess the one silver-lining for him is that maybe he can use this as a smokescreen to pass his Health Care "Reform" package.
It seems like the Nobel Peace Prize have been kind of like the Grammys for a while now, most of the recent winners have been mere figureheads and U.N. cronies. I agree that Obama hasn't actually done anything concrete, but at least he has some claim to it even though his contributions to world peace have really only symbolic.

That would be such a great silver lining if it actually happened.
I can't wait to hear Glenn Beck and the others howl. Fuck, I gotta go tell filthy assistant. He'll shit blood.
More from the foxnews.com comments:
QuoteFolks, he is the anti-Christ. He has taken the form of this, but he is the anti-Christ plain and simple. The anti-Christ goal is put America in an upheaval, cause fighting amongst each other, cause poverty and rebellion, put each nation into 3rd world nations, and he is making it happen. Sorry you don't see the horns and the pitchfork, but they are there.
I think the question now is does this raise the bar or close the doors?
Is he going to work to prove he deserves it or just say "Fuck it! I'm a Nobel Peace prize winner bitch!"

If it's like anything else he's done so far. He'll be half-hearted and wishy washy about it.
I'm thinking this all came about because the comittee was taking bets on how quickly they could get the US to implode.

For the moment. As soon as he decides how many wedding parties he wants to bomb in Afghanistan, he'll no doubt get around to demanding fifty bajillion troops from NATO.
Besides, while its not his style to apply the pressure, that is what he has Clinton and Biden for, and they both fly much lower on the radar. Obama is savvy enough to know a leader should be approacable and personable, while his second-in-commands should be belligerent thugs and psychopaths designed to put the fear of God into friend and enemy alike.
Bush never really understood "good cop, bad cop", which is why between him and Cheney it turned into "bad cop, Stasi officer".
I can't wait to see Beck's reaction to this. It will be GLORIOUS.

QuotePresident Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.
"I am both surprised and deeply humbled," Obama said from the White House Friday morning.
He said he does not "view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments," but rather as a "call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century.?

Yes, I heard that story too. I hope it's true. But still, in a modern context, it stinks of exactly the sort of PR move a company involved in the arms trade would do, to try and make their activities seem more benevolent.

No-one involved in politics or religion ever deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.
As an aside, it is worth noting the head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, who decides who gets the Peace Prize, is a vice-president of the Socialist International. I suspect that Thorbjørn Jagland, for that is name, may have seen some recent US coverage deriding Obama as socialist and so decided to rile the wingnuts even further.

Yes, I have read that it is supposed to be an encouragement to do good and all, but the problem is that the sheeple see it as an affirmation of some sort. I don't blame the guy though, he did accept it with as much faux humility as possible. I liked SNLs take on it.
