Just out of interest, how many of us are left handed?
Supposed to be none of us. We kill the weak and genetically flawed ones as they register (unless that system is b0rked).

You.

We still might.
Who is "us"?
I am naturally a right hander, but a pet project of mine since I was a kid has been to work on becoming ambidextrous.
Some success. Writing still sucks, but a lot of things I can manage with either hand.
Come and see the violence inherent in the system! (Help, help, I'm being oppressed!)
I was born left handed, but I play guitar right handed, play golf right handed, if I throw a stone, it's with my right hand, but if I'm playing darts, I throw the dart left handed.
I throw my voice left handed.

I'm kinda that way too. For example, it feels unnatural to use a fork with my right hand.

That's what I think happens to many left handed people (myself included) only the incentive to be right handed is greater in left handed people. When I'm cutting bread, I quite often make a mess of the loaf. My Stepfather sneered a bit when I blamed it on his right handed breadknife. But after I showed him how the bevel on his knife was designed for a right hand cut, he accepted
me it.

When I'm eating something which requires the simultaneous use of both a fork and a knife, I can't ever decide whether the fork feels most comfortable in the right hand and the knife in the left, so I keep swapping them out and look like I've forgotten how to work cutlery altogether.

Occasionally I intentionally use my cack hand to do all sorts of mundane tasks I usually use my proper hand for.
During especially boring lectures I try to force it to take legible notes and to make childlike drawings.

My Grandfather was also left handed, and when he was at school, they tied his left hand behind him, so he had to learn to write with his right hand. Which he learned to do. However, he used to draw beautifully with his left hand, but couldn't draw for shit with his right.
God only knows what other psychological abberations (he had a few, too) can be traced back to this early training.

Right handed, as is proper, but left eye dominant. Is crappy for aiming.
I was forced to use my right hand when I was in school. It was the accepted method back then :lulz:
So I write right handed, and cut with scissors right handed, but do pretty much everything else left handed.
My youngest son (the football player) is left handed too. Well I say that but, everything he can do lefthanded he can do righthanded almost as well except write and throw the football. He plays golf right handed, but that is more because we didn't have left handed clubs for him to use when he was little.

I went to Catholic school until 3rd grade. They made the lefties write right handed, so they started stuttering, etc, which they were then given corporal punishment for, which of course made things worse.
It had nothing to do with religion, but rather for uniformity (I was punished for writing in cursive early, for example, and for reading ahead of my grade level), and for mindless discipline for its own sake.
Have I mentioned that I hate Catholicism?

No it doesn't, but the same rules apply for any Martial Art. Right handed fighters are trained to fight right handed fighters. Coming up against an unexpected lefty leaves you wide open. Check out the percentage of left handed Boxing Champs. (Average per populace is 10%)
Also, the Spartans had a crack regiment of left handed Warriors who, in formation, were unstoppable, pretty much. (The Romans took advantage of this fact too.)

I guessed that when you listed the things you do with your right and left hands. When it came down to throwing a dart, which is primarily about aiming, you said you did it with your left hand.
When did you find out you were cross eye dominant? I didn't know until I was 19, after I'd already learned and pretty well practiced shooting guns and bows right handed. Shooting lefty is extremely difficult, even if my aim is significantly better.

QuoteDue to ancient man
Man during the stone-age time, used to kill animals using spears. After colonies came, man started to fight against other colonies and also among themselves. But as time passed, they noticed that when they attacked the left part of the chest (i.e. the heart) the kill was faster(i.e. the victim would die faster). Later when he started advancing in technology, he started to use a shield for defense. But as they knew that the weak point was on the left of the chest (heart), the shield was used with the left hand and attacking was done using the right hand. Thus man started to use to right hand more for attacking and thus right hand was used for more specific and specialized fine movements and the left for broader, contextual movements as in a shield where accuracy is not so much required until the attack is blocked. Thus as years passed, man started using more of his right hand for fine movements like writing whereas the left hand for broader movements like gripping and adjusting the orientation of the page. However, this theory suffers from the fact that right-handedness is universal, even among primitive tribes that do not use shields [7].
This sounds like bull shit.
The heart is still very much close to the center line of the body.

QuoteLeft-handed swordsmen were eagerly sought for castle invasions. Spiral staircases and towers spiral clockwise going up. Usually this meant that the (predominantly right-handed) defenders up the stairs had a good angle to swing swords and other weapons down at attackers. Conversely, right-handed attackers would find the weapons constantly colliding with the central pillar of the stairs. Hence the desire for left-handed attackers.

I've been looking for citation, but that was all I could come up with as yet. But consider the mind of a great General, like Alexander, or Scipio. It's not hard to take the idea of left handed advantage to the next step, (especially if you are fighting with Armies whose principle weapon is the blade) add it to the close formations of Tactical Warfare of the period, for instance, Alexander's ''Bull's Horns'' or the Roman Interlocking Shield Wall, and it becomes a real Tactical, rather than simply personal advantage.

Me too!....although several years later, after they got rid of corporeal punishment, so it was more of a scolding than actual punishment. My parents encouraged a lot of learning at home (probably went through tons of those workbooks), so I was at an advanced reading level and learned cursive somewhere in between kindergarten and first grade. But, rather than even a nice "good job!", my first grade teacher scolded me...something, something, shouldn't skip ahead, blah blah, one or two of the letters
might have been slightly different in the book I used compared to how they taught (OMG!). And that's where I learned that it's good dumb yourself down so everyone else doesn't feel bad. Wheee!

That being said, I am right-handed, like a Good American should be.
:lulz::potd::lulz:
Us "Olde Worlde" folks are more tolerant, since all the worst of our religious nutjobs fucked off somewhere or other in the 1600s.
And don't think we've forgotten what you did, crumpet sucker.
I should hope not, you little Nation of Upstarts.
Anyway, that's quite encouraging. It shows all the naysayers (of which there are plenty), that you are, in fact, capable of learning.
No, we're basically a collection of 301,000,000 Eliza programs.
We are a Nation of 6,500,000 million ''Agent Smith'' programs.
I'm right handed, but I use my left hand for a lot of normal right-hand stuff because I have tendonitis in my right hand.
I think, if you are left handed, the older you get, the more ambidextrous you become. By default.
I'm right handed, but I can do many things requiring fine motor skills better with my left fingers. I blame 18 years of playing speed-metal guitar, as my left hand is my fretting hand.
I can shoot with either hand/eye combo, both guns and basketballs. Can't write or throw a ball worth a damn with my left.
However, I only masturbate with my left hand. Unless I'm giving myself a "stranger". Or making someone else give me a "dutch rudder".
Armond is be left handsed
in my experience, which consists of little real-world fighting, but a ton of foam fighting (ranging from lightest touch to full contact games) lefties have a big advantage against low and middle skill fighters. Your muscle memory is trained for righties, it's a bit harder to recognize where a lefty is going.
Yeah, I've confused novices really easily that way. And it has the added benefit of giving you a fresh, non-tired arm to keep fighting with.

THIS!! And it is mainly because so many things are made "right-handed" as the norm and you have to search out the left-handed version.
Scissors, irons (though to be fair those are mainly either or these days), knives, watches, computer keyboards, the mouse, guitars, corkscrews.....
Yesterday I covered a sheet of paper in left handed penmanship practice. I can almost write the word "ambidextrous" without mangling it!

Oh Fred, you rebel you.
I seem like I should be have been a leftie but I'm quite completely right handed.
Left-handed for most tasks, although my right hand is physically stronger. I have a fine-motor-skills hand and a brute-force hand, basically.
South paw here. I learned how to knit, crochet, etc. by sitting directly in front of my grandmother and mirroring everything.
I write with my right hand
I break hearts with the back side of my left hand
