When I fought heavy list in the SCA, a very wise man told me, he never bothers to even try to remember somebody's name until they've been to at least three practices, in armor. Same guy treated me, who was, at the time around a hundred pounds, soaking wet, exactly the same as he treated any of the guys who were new, some of 'em outweighed me more than two-to-one.

Yeah it resolves to a Spanish ISP. Only way it could be a proxy is if it's a hacked Spanish end-user, but as others pointed out that wouldn't last very long (ISPs tend to scan their networks for that kind of thing) and he'd be IP-hopping fairly soon. So evidence points to actually in Spain.
What that says about coming to an English speaking forum and demanding a Spanish subforum is another question, but yeah :)

I think the idea of having more non-english discussion is fine, if we can attract enough people who all speak the same language. The thing is, most likely what will happen is that there will be several different languages so, since the point of thew forum is to communicate, everyone will end up falling back on a shared language, which might be Spanish but let's face it, it probably won't be.
Completely aside from that, if someone told me that I don't see the fnords and should shut up, I would definitely take that as license to bust their balls. As I believe you probably would as well.

And hell, if we get some posters that speak tagalog, I'll make a tagalog subforum. And so on. I'm perfectly willing to have several different language-specific subforums as long as it gets those people HERE and posting and trading/absorbing ideas. Maybe some of them will even be curious enough to learn some basic english so they can dig on the rest of the site. I agree with you, ECH, FTR. I am still unsure about Khore, which is why I have been avoiding his/her threads, except the one where infinityshock decided to pop in.
I think it would be awesome to have discussions from different linguistic and cultural views. The one issue I see... is that, as it has been pointed out, as we have a predominantly English speaking user base, it might difficult to attract people who either don't speak English, or don't speak English well enough to allow for meaningful communication across the language barrier. But I do not think that the language barrier should necessarily be a problem. I mean, If I had more time, I'd try to parse through Khore's Spanish posts (been a long time since high school, but I got me a dictionary and google translate, so I think i could make it through).
I'm all for PD being multi-lingual and I may as well be a monoglot (my Spanish is atrocious).

I honestly don't think it matters at all. What could it possibly hurt? As long as the board doesn't institute a bilingual posting rule I don't care and I didn't notice anyone else really giving a shit either.
Odds are that what will happen is that it will get a few posts and then after a while no one will use it, but you never know.

I personally agree that there is a big potential for lulz if we begin to incorporate Discordians from other countries.
We do however need to remember that they may or may not speak our languange at all and whatever translation program they use, no matter which one they use, there are always glitches which can make it look like you said one thing when you really said another. For example.....

If I were to bring Dutch friends here, they'd speak English (I've tried but so far I just got them to read some good bits, most of them don't have time for a forum is the biggest reason). It would also bring another problem, because they speak English fluently, they'd be conversing with everyone on the forum just fine, but in the hypothetical Belgian subforum they'd post Dutch and you might get all sorts of gossipy backtalking about our Anglophone members who cannot read it but will see their usernames pop up now and then, and even with the best intentions you know how it goes and I dunno things might get ugly.
1 actually I was once thinking of setting up a Dutch Discordian forum, but given that most Dutch speak English and I'd invite you guys over as well, it'd get multilingual pretty soon, and be the same sort of thing. Not that I have time or energy to do that but it was an idea.

Me, personally, if I see my name pop up, especially in a language I don't immediately understand, I'm going to try my damnedest to understand the context and intent before jumping to a conclusion. But I get your point.
As it is, I like the idea of attempting bilingual communication. One, gives me a reason to brush up on my Spanish when I have free time to do so. Two, it encourages participation from non-English speakers. So, yeah, let's see how it goes. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.
It would be different of everyone spoke english as a second language as well as Trip.

Yeah! He's really a cool guy, and definitely brilliant. Understanding him can be quite the challenge, and sometimes you manage to decipher him only to realize that he's spent the last 20 pages detailing a hostile interaction over the pear stack at the supermarket.

I know Icke is a bit of a joke in some circles, but he's gone a lot deeper into this shit than most, and some of the stuff he uncovers is quite chilling.
I've read the declassified MK-Ultra papers. The ones the agency didn't burn in a frenzy of record destroying in the early 70s, anyway.
Some of them were fairly standard psychological testing, of the sort that would not be out of character for a University department to undertake, and with no real ethical violations. Others....not so good. I made a decent study of Dr Ewen Cameron's treatments in Canada, sponsored by the CIA...he was convinced he could reduce the mind to a blank slate through drugs, hypnosis and electro-shock therapy, and rebuild the personality from the ground up.
Needless to say, human psychology is abit more complex than that, and Cameron's experiments left the subjects utterly ruined as people, suffering numerous mental illness related issues, incontinence, PTSD and in crippling pain.
Peter Levenda believes the Agency never gave up on MK-Ultra, but instead they moved from overtly scientific programs to ones more to do with cult activities and their techniques of brainwashing. There is certainly enough evidence to suggest possible Agency involvement in the Symbionese Liberation Army debacle and Jonestown Massacre, which in turn could suggest the program continued under another name up until the end of the 1970s, and perhaps even longer.
I think the ongoing MKULTRA stuff is now called Project Monarch, and involves implementing and perfecting mind control on large numbers of people, in various MKULTRA originated techniques.

Some of it is deliberately set up to attract the less credible conspiracy nuts, and deflect attention from the more sinister applications of what they have discovered they can do. And as there is no official recognition of their research, or even their existence, they pretty much have Tabula Rasa.
Much of the early classified research from MKULTRA is trickling out from our Security Agencies under the Freedom of information act, but as fast as we get the old stuff, there's always new stuff being hidden away for decades in "National Security Interests" every day. I think the only solid conlusion we can draw from this is that MKULTRA is very much still going on,on a larger scale than ever imagined.

But I have been reading how when the C.I.A was originally set up, the majority of it's operatives was were handpicked SS Officers (And later, their sons) who had bought their tickets out of the Nuremberg Circus with research on the same trauma conditioning techniques Josef Mengeles was conducting in the death camps.
It never made logical sense to me why those Camps were staffed almost exclusively by SS Troops (Who, as elite fighting units could have been deployed in a more strategically effective way on the front lines) until I dug a little deeper into the mad dog's shite that Himmler was obsessed with. Now I think that even Hitler was taken aback as he realised just what a murderous psychopath he had for a Lieutenant.
So now there is no surprise that the C.I.A are still making use of, and enlarging upon that trauma conditioning research with their interrogation methods, and their (now documented) deep post hypnotic command MKULTRA testing of sleeper agents.

The subtle nuances of colloquial English rarely translate well into other languages either. When we say over here that something is "The Dog's Bollocks", it's difficult to explain to the Japanese Ambassador that he's actually just been complemented on his Nation's contribution to the cartoon film industry.
