I saw it as a polemic taken from the point of view of someone who says things like, "NOW look what you made me do." and you perfectly nailed the attitude of petulant teenager that any sane observer would conclude is our national character.

And I know that, as an American, I share at least part of the blame for that.

You would think they would have been "aware" right? 

I mean after all we only continued to do the same shit that made them tell us to get the fuck off their rock and come to this one. 

Frankly, I'm quite surprised that we didn't try to make headway into South America just for being there. 

As for Canada, oh yes, we have plans for Canada.  Just biding our time.  Lulling them into complacency.
