Wait, I think I have it... nobody cares.

This is also incorrect, there is strong evidence that supports the contrary.

Also, CPD, to put things in perspective, this is my favorite band. Ever. Like, card carrying member of fan club sort of thing.

I know, I know. I live in a cave, where the walls are lined with yarn for added insulation and noise baffling. I can't really claim to be a card carrying member of any fan club. Pretty much the only group I've enjoyed every album of is Gaelic Storm. But my all time favorite is Incubus's "Make Yourself". I will listen to anything, though. Country, rap, filk, folk, metal, whatever.

The Tea Party? That's a thing? O.o Interesting, I had not heard of these guys.

The Tea Party formed in the early 90s. They actually were broken up for awhile, and during that time Republicans who were to cowardly to call themselves such coopted my city's history (the band took the name as a reference to smoking weed, since they are Canadian), and the band considered briefly selling the rights to the name, even though they're socialists by American standards.

Instead they took the route that I, as a Tea Party fan, would have hoped.

They said, fuck these guys, and btw we're reuniting.

Their website, teaparty.com, at the height of baggerism, had the headline, "No politics, just Rock and Roll."

Quite honestly, if I was more inclined to Rock instead of Metal, these guys would be favorite band number 2. But since I am a Metalhead, they are favorite band number 4.

:P I'm amazed at people who can categorize their favorites like that. I'm going to have to listen to more of their stuff. Thanks for the intro.

I got really into Incubus and System of a Down as my road-trip soundtrack a while back... EXCELLENT for driving North.

Thank you for confirming the evangelization. I take Iron Maiden as a given. About 25% of my wardrobe are Maiden shirts. Tea Party on the other hand is an excellent and very underrated band.

And I must also say, I hate putting them in the number 4 spot. They're so good, I'd like to bump them up. Though, anyone in the top 5 is considered "no reason for missing if they come through Massachusetts"

Unfortunately, The Tea Party haven't been to Boston since I was too young to get into medium sized clubs.

I think so too. I think though, the reason is the timeframe that they made their break. They're "nu-metal" except they aren't, really. They got lumped into a category that I have a visceral reaction to. Cognitive dissonance that doesn't even need to exist, as it were.

I listened to Incubus and SOAD back and forth for a 12-hour stretch once. It made my brain feel fizzy, which in retrospect should have been a sign that the birth control I was on wasn't a good match. :P After that I switched to Rage Against the Machine and BT, and listened to those back and forth for 12 hours. It was a really interesting experience but I can't remember why, just that it was.

Oh, hell yeah, they got popular around the same time as Nickelback and Staind and a bunch of other bands of that genre... is that what you're talking about?  Staind was decent at least. Nickelback was, and remains, JAW-DROPPINGLY TERRIBLE. That new song that's on the radio by them, right now... just WHAT. The melody is wretched, the vocals are painful to listen to, and the LYRICS... you couldn't fucking hire Evanescence to write more embarrassingly, painfully awful lyrics. Not even if they penned them by a resonating light.
