TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

Fuck this Shutdown crap!  Fuck it in the ear!

This is one of those times that I am glad to be a corporate whore.

We're doomed, too, but it takes longer.

My job is fine, but all of the people I report to, or from whom I get technical and grant support, are all on furlough.  It just mucks up the gears something wicked.

oh no it's just so fucking inconvenient for you.
but me? I don't know if I'm going to be able to make rent this quarter because my benefits are through the VA and pretty much onlt active duty is guaranteed to get paid. so I may or may not be going to drill to maybe get paid, never mind that all those DA civilians that are furloughed that are kind of fucking important to maintaining day to day operations on military bases. or that they aren't getting paid and have bills to pay too.

but no stop the fucking presses a real fucking issue had cropped up. the nation's most important drug preventionist has been fucking inconvenienced.

You realize with all the contrarian bullshit you've been throwing around the last couple days I'm now enthusiastic about the shutdown just because it inconveniences you.

I have a job, for now.  If a default occurs, having a job may not mean all that much.  Nor will it be a permanent state of affairs.

I manage a project that entails providing support to veterans and their family members so I'm aware of how fucked those issues are.  Sorry I didn't rattle off an exhaustive laundry list of all of the shit affected by the shutdown.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

I have to confess something very bad, which is that there is a small (and wrong) part of me that kind of wants the government to default because I'm curious to see what happens then.

Probably what happens then is I have to give up all my dreams and my children's dreams, but that part of me is still curious.

I get that same giddy, slap-happy feeling when the guys are heating up a ceramic-lined vessel.  You sort of WANT there to be an imperfection, because boom.  Boom is exciting.  So is watching great big shit falling down.  But then there's a mess.
