Well, maybe. I think that we might be burned out. I still feel kinda burned out, but I don't think that's because of the atheist thread. I kinda feel like I stopped paying attention to everything for about a week and I'm not exactly sure where I've walked to.

Burned out from what?  It isn't like we just had some kind of creative orgy, like we did with the Nessies.

No, I think it's a little simpler than that.  We've gotten lazy.  We've gotten away from our purpose for so long that most people here will deny that ever had one in the first place.  Now it's "come see what other people said, and F5 until there's an interesting conversation to read".  But when that becomes widespread enough, there aren't any conversations to F5 TO, if you catch my drift.

This is for two reasons, I think.  First, a lot of the heavier posters fucked off to Narcsismbook, where they can share and repost pics and think of it as "spreading the word".  To a bunch of other people who are doing the same thing.  Think of it as history's largest circle-jerk.

The other reason is that the remainder have lost their inner maniac.

I haven't lost my inner maniac, it's just that my inner maniac has lost his voice. Not from too much TEEVEE or twinkies, but from raging impotently against the unstoppable mass of humanity's blind, deaf, collective lemming march toward a bland apocalypse of creeping narcissism and mediocrity.

Every revolution starts out as an attempt to get someone's attention. The powers that be aren't answering the phone, though, so naturally the revolution will settle for the attention of other revolutionaries. And by "the powers that be," I don't mean the government or Corporate America or whoever's turn it is this week to drive this broken down bus we call a society. I'm talking about the actual base of power: the people. They're on Xanax and Ritalin and high fructose corn syrup, in a diabetic coma, and they won't wake up.
