You know, my life is pretty fucking stressful.  Between work and home issues, etc, there's not a lot of tether left at the end of the day.

So when BDS informs me that "several people" at IRC, people I thought were friends, think Monad had "good points" but merely worded them badly, then all of a sudden Discordianism is now a stressor and not a stress-reliever.  Now all I know is that "several people" at IRC think that the regulars, myself included, are the next fucking thing to Martin Bormann.

And I can't take any more fucking stress.  I really can't.

So I'm thinking that maybe I should just leave Discordianism to the people who think the hot dog joke is still funny.

Explaining what I do to new people is always so embarrassing.  I had an induction session today, for my security guard gig.  The discussion goes something like this:

"Are you going to be working full time then?"
"No, just two nights a week."
"Oh, why's that?"
"I'm a part-time student also."
"Cool, what are you studying?"
"Uh, well...terrorism".
"Ah....OK?"

"Are you doing anything else part time?"
"I occasionally write analysis of international politics for a shady private security firm no-one really knows much about."
"Oh...right".

I should just say I falsely claim dole money or something.  It'd be easier.

I'm pretty sure BDS was referring to the discussion about new forum software, not that we are all horrible people.

I mean, we are horrible people, but that's different.

Or, after the above, you should mutter something like, "worst. spy. ever," then walk away.

Yeah, I can vouch for BDS geeking out over forum software.

QuoteI mostly just meant that there were several people on IRC who said things to the effect of "well, you kind of have a point, but your tone was absurd, and to post on PD telling everyone that they're doing it totally wrong is just trolling'.

About forum software.  AND.  AND.

QuoteLike, I think maybe there is an interesting discussion to be had somewhere about different kinds of forum software and different discordian communities and such, but obviously just going LOL UR DOIN IT RONG is a dick move.

Given the original context and subject of the thread whose sentiments several people agreed with, the bolded section isn't exactly the Voynich manuscript, if ya dig.

What I'm getting is that there are Discordians here, who don't seem to mind the shenanigans.  And there are Discordians who were formerly here, that feel that myself and a few others ruin fucking everything.

And this is what Discordianism has come to mean to me over the last few years:  What horrible shit I am responsible for THIS TIME.  I doubt I am the only "culprit", but I do know that the stress levels in my life are affecting my health, and this shit suddenly isn't reducing those levels, but raising them.

Several people I liked and used to hang with have once again decided the same old same old.  And I don't even know who they are.

Fuck this.

I haven't completely followed the monad thingy, all i know is: in my eyes you are not one of the culprits for the reduced activity of this forum. (That was the subject, right?) For me, at least, you are one of the main reasons I keep coming back here. (Even if i don't contribute as much as i think i should.)

The underlined bit is 5092% suck!

I hope your stresslevels reduce.

No, I don't need a break, but thanks.

What I needed was perspective.  Rant to follow.

I read the "different discordian communities" part as BDS saying he was interested in other people's attempts to build their own Discordian internets.

But at the same time, I want to see butt peanuts flourish, so I'm just going to see where this conversation goes.

Dude, all I know is he did the "lots of people" bit ("several", in this case) which he then refused to clarify.  Then, when I expressed dismay and discouragement in PM, he was basically like "SORRY TO HEAR THAT, HERE'S YOUR HAT".   Stack that on top of the fact that he hasn't arsed himself to drop in for over a year, until this shit started...

...What fucking conclusion am I SUPPOSED to draw?

Yeah, it's probably more valid a reading of it than mine, which is based on just the text out of the context you've got. Prepare butt peanuts for suction!

Maybe.  I'm just not really willing to extend the benefit of the doubt, given the "several people" comment.

Ugh, i hate the "lots of people agree with me that you are X" bit. It is double cowardice, first the accuser apparently needs a posse to feel tough enough to open his mouth and secondly once the mouth has opened it won't name names. IF YOU WEREN'T GOING TO NAME NAMES YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE MENTIONED THEIR OPINION AT ALL! Jeez, you can't retroactively start respecting your posse's privacy after you used their consensus to bolster your position. That is just a dick move against the accused as well as against your posse.
