Yeah, I'm going to file Scilon into the box marked "Trollbear", which for Scilon's benefit because they seem to have invested no time into learning the memes, norms and social mores of a new community before charging in headfirst, suggests a tendency to seem totally sincere in attempts to become better when called on bullshit, over and over and over a-fucking-gain.

Yeah, I spent most of the day being very polite.

The responses I got were most telling.

I've been told I'm a "good judge of character" from time to time.  But all there really is to it is this:  If politeness is answered with derision or condescension, then you are looking at the same sort of person that would be rude to a waiter.  If a willingness to be reasonable or to back down and reassess the situation is an invitation to a groin-stomping, then you are looking at someone who will expect you to put on a collar.  When most people say that an ability to admit your mistakes is admirable, they mean exactly what they say:  YOUR mistakes.  Because they don't make any.  And if being able, as a group, to recognize this sort of shit implies a "hivemind", then fuck whomever is saying that, because they're LOOKING for a hivemind.  With themselves as queen bee.

Really, the first impression is usually the best impression.

There is a face behind the masks, but I strongly suspect it is only a mirror. A terrible, horrible mirror. If you removed your masks completely -- all pretense, all identity, all belief, all ego altogether -- what would be left? A Thing which experiences. And that's true for everyone. Anyone who saw you would be staring directly at what they themselves are. Being faced with that, I can imagine the masks screaming in terror. It may be impossible to communicate that way, maybe because "communication" itself is a layer of abstraction built on top of that ultimate identity.

Also, I came to the Principia Discordia forum to find like-minded individuals and have some fun.

For some reason I, like it appears so many others, am ruining the awesome fun all you guys usually have around here.

If any one of you, any one of you at all wants me to leave and not come back I'm cool with that. All you have to do is post a picture of some ruby slippers and say 'There's no place like home" three times and I will leave without question or comment.

I find these beings fascinating. There appears to be solid intellect there but (if we take it at face value) this is coupled with an inability to bring this intellect to bear on social convention.
