The problem is I dont agree with the court of public opinion on this, and think the end result is stupid, and shit.

The obscenely wealthy own the ball and the ballpark. You will not worry about billionaire pedophiles, you will follow the thundering herd of tumblristas against George Takei and Warren Ellis.

Never mind that Takei was exonerated when the person who complained basically admitted he was trying to make money off of the notoriety.

I don't see a problem with believing the victim first.  But eventually, I have to see some evidence.  If that evidence isn't forthcoming, then I start questioning the narrative.

Politicians were able to adapt, and are courted by that loathsome group that say

"We will take care of you" like the human trafficking tate brothers and multiple others who get "cancelled" then become part of the a-team of the far rright. Conor Mcgregor in Ireland is the most blatant example we have here. Loses a civil case on rape, immediately runs for president on anti immigration policies

Its such a nasty insidious pipeline and rendered movements for social change vulnerable.

I hate using this comparison with Ellis. His behavior was scummy but nothing compared to these guys

Well, yeah.  He was a convention creeper, which is pathetic, but the Tate brothers were kidnappers, pimps, and possibly murderers.

McGregor is no different that Tate, except that he occasionally wins in a sport that appeals to degenerates.

So, remind me, did Ellis do anything improper, as opposed to just being icky?

He skirted the line by plugging people on his news letter some of which were his victims, none have ever said he made any suggestion that this was reciprocal arrangement, rather it was they were "the favourite" until they weren't. Its scummy, and I wont diminish that as a successful writer, plugging anyone can give them a kick start.
That's the professional murkiness. 

The emotional damage is real, but for me that has to be part of the personal/professional divide.

If sleeping with fans (or camming whatever he was doing) and ghosting them is the red line that will get people to vote with their wallets, then I would expect the music industry to collapse* imminently.

1.  I said this years ago:  If you can't separate the art from the artist, you have to accept that you'll have to throw out 80%+ of the world's art.

2.  It already collapsed.  Now it's decentralized, running through Youtube, Spotify, and Amazon.  Promotion is done via ads at the beginning of music you actually wanted to hear, and through breathless idiots on social media.  Sort of like MTV.  Needless to say, it took about 30 seconds for those companies to start fleecing the artists even worse than the music industry did.
