Do you mean hominy? Posole is the stew, and hominy/field corn is normally only referred to as posole corn if it's being prepared for posole.

Polenta is coarse-ground yellow cornmeal. Grits is coarse-ground yellow or white cornmeal.

The real difference is that polenta is upscale.
