AND ALSO, FAUST-

On the topic of "swamp thing", I've read stuff by Nancy Collins in various places and it's a good gamble that she rocked out in her "swamp thing" gig - could be good stuff. There was a .25 cent sale at my local joint today, the kids & I were there and I came across some of her stuff, which reminded me.
I'll give it a look, I'm just reading the first issue of madame xanadu now and then off to sleep, will report back after I have read a few.

WELL

As I've said, I really think Matt Wagner is La Bomba, but in this series Amy Reeder Hadley's art is so fucking great.

AND THAT SAID

Almost nothing is better than Matt doing the writing AND the art. Except with argument HERE, with Hadley. The following (5-6 issue) story arc with Madame Xanadu(1979-1980 "Doorway to Nightmare") creator Michael Kaluta actually brings a little limp to the throb/ rage that Amy throws down.

I've just finished issue ten. I'm really enjoying this. I found the first two issues very weak in terms of writing but it starts to solidify rapidly after that. I'm liking this because I have been thinking about the phantom stranger a lot since reading swamp thing and matt Wagner writes him really well. The saucy jack story was great.

HEY, GREAT

I've definitely noticed certain issues suffer/ get thin a bit 'cause he's working on "Zorro(YIKES!! idea but great story) and also a soon to hit the shelves "green lantern(wtf?, this better be good...)" ongoing series simultaneously with "Madame Xanadu". The Phantom Stranger is a great character who in his comic history has rarely had good writers.

I'M REALLY

enjoying the 'House of Mystery',  - noticing some odd content from this story which makes appearance on the P.D. board. raather interesting. Also, I like the 'Doktor Sleepless' very much, however I'm going to have to find a "lot" on ebay or something because I can't seem to find a full continuity of issues at my local joint.

Yeah I'm glad I bought each issue as it came out its hell looking for old issues from Image and Avatar. There is definitely something odd about the house of mystery and some of the themes we touch here.

Faust

I just watched the Green lantern first flight animated film and it is really good. Both the voice acting and the action was excellent. They even managed to make Sinestro's tash cool.

Faust

Anyone looking for something to read have a look at grant morrison's  seven soldiers of victory, its seven disconnected stories that start to come together over time, some really odd experimental ideas in it that aren't very practical but are fantastic.
The highlight of the series so far for me was the subway pirates of New York who travel around in their pirate train the President Clinton pillaging the various stations they come across.

Pope Pixie Pickle

I read the whole fread and NO ONE MENTIONED FROM HELL!

Ffs!

I accidentally the whole thing in one day.

That and I had a girlie soft spot for Strangers In Paradise by Terry Moore and I always loved Hellblazer.

I loved the Sandman but obvious avatar is obvious.

Juana

I've just started to dig into the New Avengers. Finished Breakout last night and I will hooopefully be getting the next one from my amazing friend of amazingness who is so kind as to lend me his collection.

Also, if you are in the mood for fluffy cuteness with a great storyline, the Abominable Charles Christopher is a good one. It's written and illustrated by the same guy who does Teen Titans atm.

Triple Zero

Hey! Comic book nerds!! Suggestion time! If I :

1) LURRRRVED Transmetropolitan
2) Mostly enjoyed the Invisibles
3) Kinda have to admit I liked the Watchmen movie better than the comic

WHAT SHOULD I READ NEXT?
Ex-Soviet Bloc Sexual Attack Swede of Tomorrow™
e-prime disclaimer: let it seem fairly unclear I understand the apparent subjectivity of the above statements. maybe.

INFORMATION SO POWERFUL, YOU ACTUALLY NEED LESS.

Pope Pixie Pickle

See you need to read The Sandman.

But I recommend Neil Gaiman to the cat next door.

Also Hellblazer.

From Hell is easily my favorite of all the Alan Moore books.
Oh, and if you like Strangers in  Paradise, I strongly suggest giving Love and Rockets a try.

LMNO

And if you ever wanted to see what it would look like if the characters in Love and Rockets started fucking everything that moves, go find Birdland.

I'm even more pleased to find out that its *still* Los Bros Hernandez.
Those guys are awesome.

LMNO

I'm not sure it's both of them, but it is certainly one of them.

Its Gilbert.
Those guys do a lot of solo stuff that borrows from their shared universe.

https://shop.idwpublishing.com/the-ghoul-1.html

the ghoul. by Niles & Wrightson. Wed. delivered issue three and let me tell you why I like this title so much. niles is a good writer, ok, and this story involves detective work in the paranormal - not the "in sound from way out" - but wait!! Wrightson draws the 'ghoul' character so absolutely to the story voice that you can feel the rumble in his throat when you read the words and see his face. the stories are a dash 'o sci fi with rough n tumble for grit. And the ghoul is Columbo if he were a dirty harry frankenstein's monster from the cia.
the other main character is beginning to think outside the box with a bigger gun. 'nuff said.
