This.  One of those fucks in the Facebook discussion actually said "His favorite books were the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf...Not exactly books you find on the conservative reading list." - so he thinks a lot of leftie hippies are sitting around reading Mein Kampf... I guess the hippies I went to school with were just poseurs, they were usually reading Steal This Book.

Their argument is that the Nazi party was the "National Socialist Workers Party".  By that token, the DPRK isn't a despotism because it has "democratic" & "republic" in it.

It comes down to the fact that it's called National Socialism. Not that they can be bothered to actually see that Hitler was anti-Communist, anti-left and anti-intellectual. Non of that matters. He was a National Socialist which makes him exactly the same as any other socialist.

Sure. Calling everyone a Communist these days comes across as vitriolic. Damn that Senator McCarthy for ruining a perfectly good word. Now we have to use words like Socialist and Marxist instead.

Ya know what, I vote for the restoration of the Roman Republic. Let's strip the president of all power, get rid of the Supreme Court, and boot the House. THEN when we're down to just the Senate, after we make it to wear you become a Senator through the appointment of the state legislators, which are themselves made up of only the influential people, of course, the Senate appoints its own members to the various executive and judicial tasks. But all hyperbole aside, I think a large part of why the right side of the politico Americano sees Left = Socialism is because of their perception of those governments who ARE more socialist and left-leaning.  Their whole conception of Yurp is basically it's a tax-and-spend set of governments who care not for freedumbs.

If he fits the"Lone Nut" profile too well, he's innocent. (Or Dead) Methinks they're going to have their "Pound of flesh" with this one, and the Circus will just get bigger and bigger.
Maybe it really was down to Palin's Voodoo Cross Hair's. (Just out of interest, who else did she do?)
