Intermittens #7 Operation Mindfuck

I would like to edit Intermittens #7, and make it about Operation Mindfuck.  I know a lot of you don't know me, so here's a little about myself and my ideas for this issue.

About Me:

I'm not another Greg Hill or Kerry Thornley.  But I have edited several issues of a bulletin, assisted a professor doing research at a university, and published a couple of articles.

I've known about Eris Discordia for several years, and posted a little jake here.  LMNO wanted a story for a coworker who liked Boston teams, so I wrote an "AP" article about a Sink game and posted it at http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=19299.msg643972#msg643972. By the way, the Floating Hospital-Children in Boston is real, which made it the perfect Boston location for a game of Sink.  You might think my article sucks, but anyway LMNO liked it.

So much for my mediocre credentials.

About The Issue:

I want to really open up submissions from both inside and outside PD.com, so want help notifying a lot of Discordian cabals.  That can broaden the magazine, increase readership, and avoid burnout for those who've already posted in several issues.

I want to have something about the origin of Operation Mindfuck/Project Jake/etc., and even something about pre-Discordian forms of it.  And obviously I want new OMs (both ones people have used and ones that are just waiting to be used), and of course OMGASM stuff.  Bits about the different types of OMs (Postergasm, Bookgasm, etc.) would be great, maybe even an Operation Mindfuck Dictionary.  And photos of OMs would be wonderful (I saw some for Postergasm and EggGASM/Erister Egg Hunt I'd love to use).  Maybe even an interview with a major OMer.

I don't see this as being an all-fun-stuff issue, so would like something on the point of OMs.  Is it important to shake up people's perceptions, to fuck with their minds, and is it even possible in today's Western world where we're bombarded with everything?  And what's happening in the East with OM (I don't know if anyone here would have anything on that, but something about Eastern OMs would be great).

I'd also like short bits, quotes (ones that already exist or ones you just made up), jokes, riddles, games, puzzles, silly stuff, even if it doesn't strictly fit the theme.  Lots of cool filler material.  And definitely fake ads--seems a natural for an OM issue, especially if the ads seem like they could be real.  And letters to the editor about Issue #5 and/or #6 (including real letters) and letters about issue #4 (fake letters about the fake issue).

So what do you spags think?

EDIT: I'm doing it.  You can submit in this thread if you want.  If you want to submit somewhere else, see other places you can submit at http://www.blackironprison.com/index.php?title=User:Sheered Völva

EDIT: You can submit directly to isubmit@ymail.com.  I'll be discontinuing the email address after the issue is done, so don't care if it's posted.

Cramulus

I think that's a great concept for an issue.

Sounds excellent. If I come across anything relevant I'll toss it in here

i wouldn't mid typing up a few, erm, "exposés" of some really easy, but highly effective magic tricks, a la Derren Brown. (He's such a badass.)

they're good especially for practicing persuasion techniques, as they illustrate quite well how the art of suggestion is taylored and utilized. (By the by, if anyone has any good material on cold reading, please to PM.)

Omulus: I could really use your help--you probably know most of the places I could get Omgasms!

P3nT4gR4m: I look forward to what you find!

Philly Fillet: Great! I seem to recall a Penn and Teller magic trick that's easy to do and that only works because of people's preconceived ideas.

Anybody: Share your sources here! And please spread the word! Let's let every Discordian cabal know about Intermittens!

Slightly edited from original post.  See Authorization for Self Altering PD.com posts Article IX Section A Subsection 648.6

I tried to join Black Iron Prison so I could add a note about Intermittens #7 at http://www.blackironprison.com/index.php?title=Intermittens. But it's not accepting any new members.

Is there a block to stop outsiders from joining?

Is there a way I can join?

Latest Update: I've got a photographer/photo artist who really wants to do the cover, so the cover's covered (cough).

I know a lot of Discordians aren't too picky about where they grab images, but I want to keep the issue to only original art (stuff you made yourself or have permission to use), or public domain stuff.  I remember Disney once sued a preschool just because they had Mickey Mouse painted on their wall.  And people have gotten sued for downloading a few songs off the Internet.

But there's a lot of open territory.  Every image produced by the U. S. Government is public domain, and also by some U. S. states.  If anyone knows a good source for art that's copyright free or that we can get permission to use, please post it here.

The BIP Wiki isn't an "anyone can edit" wiki because some spag would just screw it up.

I can set you up with an account. Check your PMs.

I tried to make sure all imagery in Issue 01 art and layout was public domain before I included it. Check that thread, there's a ton of good links to clip-art, borders, fill-graphics, old lino-cuts, etc, etc.

Cramulus: Thanks. I joined and posted a bit about the issue there. I thought it might be good if there was a note there about how to apply to join.  Right now it looks like you can just click and join, but you can't.

Telarus: Cudos for tip on links.

Chairman Risus

Here's one I've been considering reviving, recently.  Maybe you can put it up as an ad in the back or something.

Cool. Looks like an easy and effective jake. With your permission, I may alter the text a bit (maybe a phone number that wouldn't cause us problems but would be amusing).

The only possible prob is the source of the photo.  Cool pic, but I really want to avoid any copyright issues (yes, I'm paranoid).  Do you know where the photo's from?  If not, I found one that's been released I could use.

Cramulus

according to the image source, it's from http://www.allthepages.org/ -- you could probably head over there and e-mail the author for permission

Thanks I'll check it out.

I'm looking for all the parts of Operation Mindfuck (Omgasm, Erister Egg Hunt, Project Jake, etc.) and who started them and when.  Please check http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=19646.0
