Misc ideas:

*The reason why turtles live so long and move so slow is because they psychically project a bubble of dilated time around themselves.

*On the next episode of Dora the Explorer we meet Swiper's Italian cousin, Seizer

*Gory horror film where all the victims of the evil supernatural force are kindergarteners

*A parody of one of those reality shows about weddings, wherein instead of weddings it's about funerals

they are more or less saying "WE'RE DOING EVIL THINGS AND WE KNOW IT"

Exhibit A:

To be fair, people caring about things is what caused this whole mess. This is all happening because people were worried about illegal immigration and the fate of the manufacturing industry. If people had cared less then there would be no need for people to care now

You are far more likely to be yourself if you can be yourself and not have to worry about starving to death or dying of staph infection.
exactly this

Well this and the fact that they want to let corporations just run wild; what with corporations being a major producer of tyranny.

That said, they're otherwise better than the two major parties. We need a party that's like the libertarians when it comes to the behavior of individuals, but like the democrats when it comes to corporations and safety nets for poverty and disease.

Exactly, this is how it will play out.  Family separation will be ended, which is undeniably good.  However, treating immigrants and asylum seekers as de facto criminals and sticking them in camps in the middle of the desert, will continue.  And so internment itself will be accepted as being OK, and then come 2020 and 2024, the extremists will come out of the woodwork and claim that family separation was too soft, that actually the children should be sent to labour camps.  And then the "moderate" position will be "send children to camps while parents do slave labour" and Serious Pundits everywhere will nod profoundly and pontificate on the moral goodness of this course.

Agreed. I would not be surprised if Trump tried to bring back slavery.

This is not the straw that will break the camel's back. It's just one more thing on the list of things we're sure will finally be the end of this nightmare, only to pale in comparison to the next thing.

At this point, I donít know what itís going to take to get Comrade Spanky out of office.

I doubt that his base, who make up about 33 % of The Republicultô, will abandon him for any reason. And given that number of supporters, I donít see how his impeachment will not lead to open violence across the country.

And, the professional politicians in The Republicultô, who make up nearly all of the politicians in the party, are deathly afraid of their own cultists (The Republicultistsô). I sincerely hope Iím wrong, but I donít see many, if any, of those politicians openly doing a damn thing to get their sociopath out of the White House.

So, when Special Counsel Mueller finally wraps up his investigation, what then? Whatever happens, I donít believe itís going to be at all straightforward. I suspect the Attorney General of New York State is going to end up being the pointman, by default, for Comrade Spankyís ouster.

Making a prediction: When this is all said and done and the US not a glass parking lot (I know, even odds there) with Trump no longer in office, there will be a cry from both sides that we must "move on as a country, together" and not bother with prosecutions or investigations for the sake of "unity" and "not dredging up old stories" because they would "upset people".  There will be a tepid outcry from the farther Left, and then nothing will be done for at least 20 years, until the responsible parties are dead.

That would be in keeping with the disappointing way the civil war wrapped up. On a related note, I kind of hope the south does rise again, so that we can handle the aftermath correctly this time, like how Rome handled things differently after the Third Punic War

That's good. That means that they can be answered with violence.

This thing with families being separated is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. It stems ultimately from people treating illegal immigration as if it were an "issue" rather than ignoring illegal immigration like the non-issue it is. They felt, incorrectly, that they had to something about illegal immigration, when in fact they should have done nothing about illegal immigration, because ilegal immigration doesn't matter.

Only in the case of the extreme version of the scenario from the bottom of the article where it fucks up Disney (and also, by extension, due to the impending merger, Fox)

Hey, is there any chance of this actually happening? It's probably a long shot, but if it actually happened I think it would be the one scenario in which I would be willing to vote for Trump's reelection.

Aneristic Illusions / EU Article 13

It seems that in a few days the European Union is going to vote on a copyright enforcement and web censorship bill similar to the invasive SOPA and PIPA bills that nearly passed in the US a few years back. It's been roundly denounced by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Wikimedia Foundation, UN free speech expert David Kaye, and dozens of technology experts. If you live in Europe and like being able to use the internet you might want to contact your member of Parliament and/or sign a petition sometime before the 20th of June, which is when the vote is.

It's really a shame; the EU was the last power bloc that I still sort of respected

He would be the type to be impressed by literally the worst country in the world. And make no mistakeNorth Korea is indeed the worst country in the world. People in impoverished war-torn dictatorships in subsaharan africa and the middle east and the former iron curtain can say to themselves "well at least I don't live in North Korea"
