Women can never win in this world. If we are not decorations, then we are aberrations. Ballbreakers, bitches and dominatrices, or else shrinking violets, either way we get screwed.

But really, it is the men who are slaves to the machine, who don't even KNOW they're slaves! We say "Ok, we give in. What do you want us to be? Shall we be skinny? Shall we be pretty? Busty? Loud? Soft? Nice? Mean? Flashy? Submissive? What, just tell us what so we can do it and get on with life!"

And you don't know, do you? You don't, so you keep changing the game, and every time we have a taste of success, you steal the bottle away so we can't have more. Every time we come close to winning, you change the game, because we are "breaking the rules" when nobody even knows what those rules are.

Unfortunately, guys, we're ahead, and you know it. We're closer to freedom because we were the first to figure out that we were slaves. We KNOW that the rules make no sense, that the game is rigged.

You still seem to be under the delusion that you are winning here. But you are not. By trying to destroy us, you destroy yourselves. You still think that this world is a game with rules that can be enforced on one side and not the other. You still think we are all identical pieces and that with enough control we will all fall into line and be perfect little clones like the women in the bra ads.

And yet, that's your greatest fear, and we know it - you don't WANT those women, you want real women, flesh and blood and attitude, you want one that is unlike any other in the world, you want us as real companions and coworkers and yes, bosses sometimes - because you know that it is a reprieve from that harried man's world of cell phones and competition and early heart disease. You know that we are the ones who can see you as you are, as flesh and blood and spirit, and not as dollar signs and diplomas, we can give you authenticity and the freedom not to play that game.

But you fear that freedom, don't you? It's the real prize, but like anything worth having, it comes with a price. So you hire the lazy man who kisses your ass, and you fire the competent lady who has a few too wrinkles for your little man's taste; you pinch bums and encourage the next generation of boys to become chauvinist CEOs and teachers and doctors and fathers, and you keep the game going, even though it makes you sick and lonely.

My advice? Lay off the reality TV.

I call myself a feminist out of respect to those who came before me and fought for the rights so many women take for granted these days, and whenever I wonder why there has been such a modern backlash of those feminist ideals I come across posts like this and sigh.

Because of those pioneering women and men who defied expectations, I reserve the right to be pretty, busty, loud, soft, nice, mean, flashy and submissive whenever I feel it is appropriate, not when I feel I must be these things because of some imagined expectation of womanhood that the true enemies try to stuff down our throats and into our skulls to get us to consume product. That's right, what are the bra ads doing? Getting women to buy bras. Those expectations you think men have of women? Women do more to perpetuate those than men. It's our own twisted sense of obligation that holds us down, not "the man" who just so happens to be, you know, a man.  

And who are the real enemies? Not your average man, I can tell you that. Get me in a room with real people and I will show you ways that those real people can relate without succumbing to the stereotypical bullshit mindgames that steroetypes would have us think are so necessary. Men have the same pressure to conform that woman do, and to believe the herd mentality is to play into the  crazy logic that keeps us from progressing past the social rat-race of the sexes. You think you're ahead of the game because you have a clearer picture than men do, but it's actually just part of the same illusion. Doesn't matter how clearly you see it, you're still not seeing past it.

When you divide people into men and women, white and black, straight or gay you seperate and ignore the fact that we are all people above all else, and that we have the same emotions, thoughts and problems. You deny us the ability to band together to solve problems, and instead pit person against person in some twisted game of "this is what the world demands of you because you are -----!" It doesn't solve anything to view things in such a black and white manner.

If I am grateful to the "eastern philosophies" for one thing, it is this: You are not your sex, you are not your race, you are not your preconceptions, you are not your body. To believe otherwise is a self-defeating fallacy, and dangerous.

Horab, those women at your work? They're just lazy people, and if they weren't using you "because you're a man" they would be using you to help them figure things out because you're the "smart one", or they would be using you to take up their slack because you always have "so much energy." Leeches are leeches, regardless of the sex. I've had men co-workers who were too lazy mentally to read basic manuals and depended on asking me questions all of the time, but it wasn't because I was a "smart chick" like they said. It was because they were lazy pieces of shit.


We are fundamentally seperate but equal in the ways that count. Do I encounter sexism? Sure, everybody does, men the same as women. Women have had it pretty rough in the past what with the subjugation and all (and continue to in parts of the world,) but we overcame a large chunk of it by being the change that we wanted to see, by waking up and realizing that this self-pity is getting us nowhere. If you're fighting against men because they tend to view things in a different (but not neccessarily wrong or harmful) way then us then honey, you ain't getting the point.

Just answer me this: Have you ever had an unreasonable expectation of a man, or what a man was supposed to be? Caring yet tough enough to handle problems himself? Open-minded yet resolute? "Wow, he's sure nice and I like his hair and he's great and always there for me, but oh, check out the smile on that guy! I bet he's understanding. Why can't he be ------ sometimes instead of always ------?"  Humans crave change, we're not meant to be monogamous animals. We force ourselves into monogamous relationships with sometimes great results, but we're still hard-wired to like variety. Ooo, look at the shiny pretty things here, and here!

Final thought...I wrote this in about 2 minutes, so it's broader than it really ought to be. There ARE smart men who are not stereotypes - I'm married to one. And I care less at this moment what people think of me than I ever have in my life.
