I've never actually tried clam chowder.  There must be somewhere in London that delivers...

Bwahaha, 5 seconds on Google and I already have a place

It's amazing.  But it does things to your guts.  Horrible, horrible things.

It's basically cream, flour, and shellfish.  Maybe a potato.  WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

The Irish could put a bomb in it.

Taking modafinil on my transition day seems to be a working tactic thus far.  I've now been up 23 hours, and normally I'd be cursing and hating myself and desperately trying to not fall asleep.  Instead, I'm finally watching The Man In The High Castle and feeling relatively decent.

We'll see if this holds until 22:00.

Some asshats in the Common Sense FB group are REALLY MAD that I don't agree with anarchism as a political philosophy and are trying to sell me on it. They are mostly doing this by calling me an idiot and insisting that they have read books that have all the answers to my stupid plebeian questions.

That's the downside of books - You'll find any answer to any stupid plebeian question written by some idiot somewhere. Book burning? Yeah, call me controversial but I reckon you should probably burn most of them

I'm trying to study for my neurophysiology final, but I'm having  the problem of just not caring anymore.

Held onto 2200.  Don't feel great...but I feel better than I would if I had tried this with no chemical assistance, that's for sure.

I'd like to thank you for adding me to that zoo.  It's been months of entertainment.   :lulz:

Of course we will overcome the tragedy of the commons with good intentions, it's just common sense.

Welp, since the UK is banning all drugs that are not specifically allowed, as of next month (no exaggeration, this is exactly what the law in question does), and modafinil is not allowed, I've just ordered a buttload of pills on the internets.

I mean, this law will probably fall apart at some point, given how insanely stupid it is....but I don't want to be the test case, you know?

So the baby is still stuck on the starting block a nd I've almost burned through the time I had allotted to be out of work. My employers are super cool about it, they've told me that I can have as much time as I need, not to stress about being gone from work, and it sounds like they might even give me a week PTO to cover some of it even though I technically wouldn't have any PTO to use until a year from my promotion to management, which was only about 6 weeks ago. Whatever isn't accounted for by that I can make up to them with a few weeks of creative scheduling, probably, but I still do have to go back to work sometime and I do still have to pay rent and bills and while I very much appreciate not having to worry about being out of a job or ending up on the street, I still feel like I shouldn't have to creatively mortgage my time just to be able to take care of my partner during a difficult last week of pregnancy and have a few days at home bonding with my new born baby and helping my partner recuperate.

So basically, fuck this entire pack of hind-tit-sucking halfwits of a country for not having a goddamned paid family leave plan like, oh, every other at-least-marginally-functioning nation-state on the ENTIRE PLANET except for PNG. That's it, us and PNG. Good fucking job.

SERIOUSLY THIS. SO FUCKING HARD.

This also basically describes the entirety of Facebook.

Took my final. Probably did fine. Met with my advisor; I am on for staying in her lab for the next year, until I get into grad school or whatever.

This is exactly the sort of thing that allowed a few trips to Europe to turn me into a full-out socialist.
