TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

Certainly there will be a big fight over the independents who didn't have a chance to cast a vote in the primaries.  That's what makes Bob Barr and Ralph Nader's presences in the race at least mildly interesting.  In the end, I think they cancel each other out, but it might at least bring us some comical news footage to keep it interesting.

Serious question:

I don't pay a hell of a lot of attention to politics... so I was hoping someone could help me out with this.

I know Ron Paul gets ribbed a lot on this forum, but I was just listening to an interview with him and he seemed like an interesting candidate.

So, what is the problem with him?

He's a NeoConfederate, in short.

He wants to abolish the federal reserve, the Department of Education, and pretty much every federal program that exists.

Psh, dont give a shit about that.

He's friends with Christian theocrat Gary North, has played every far-right conspiracy theory going and is nothing less than the candidate for the Heavily Guarded Compound crowd.  The people really behind him are the sort of people who cheered at the Oklahoma Bombing and think abortionists should be murdered.

People who think abortionists should be murdered don't sound like what Libertarianism is supposed to be about though, do they?  Or do I have the wrong idea about Libertarianism?

Ron Paul isn't really a Libertarian.

He's in favour of states being able to legislate away rights enshrined in the Constitution and is opposed to the Federal Reserve and UN on the basis they are part of a militarist bankers conspiracy - not that they interfere with the free market and autonomy of the individual.  He'd have no problem with a state taking away every single right a person has - just so long as the Federal government doesnt do it.  The links explain it pretty well.

Ok, thank you very much... I will check that link when I get home.

Isn't it kind of like a more peaceful version of what's going on in Thailand?

Basically the minorty parties want to gang up and throw out the PM right?
