I think there are quite a few posters who simply don't care what I have to say at this point.  These, sadly for me, are generally the posters who have the most interesting things to say.  For everyone else, I am limited to replying in the manner in which I'm addressed.

It's frustrating.  I feel as though the worst possible interpretation has been applied to each thing I've said or not said -- and once an interpretation has been suggested by one or two credible posters, it's become the default attitude.  But that's also what makes it interesting.  I'm forced to choose what I think is important to justify myself to, how, and why.  A bit self-centered, I suppose, but as your (Epimetheus') quote suggests, there's a paradigm at work which makes it difficult to do anything else.
