But the mission has been accomplished.  I have been knocked out of the mood to write.

I'm gonna finish the spider project with my daughter, as she is intensely interested in it (and she is far more important to me than any of you, as you will surely understand), and then I'm going to take a break and just veg for a while.

and that sucks

creativity and creative moods are not some hippie "flowers and rainbows required to make them happen thing" some times fights and conflicts and ugly humans doing ugly human shit inspire them and  some times not letting things flow the way they are flowing just fucks them up  .... a real shame..

Yeah, well, being a primate, I do have SOME pattern recognition skills, and this shit ONLY happens when I start writing again.

So there's a simple solution.  I stop writing anything, at least until this particular shitstorm passes.  Not that there's any choice in the matter.  I can only write while I'm in the mood.

So, again, mission accomplished.

That sucks. I was looking forward to vidcasting more of your stuff.

And yeah, actually it does seem to be the case that these kinds of shitstorms inevitably follow a period where you have been very creatively active.

Meh.  Could be coincidence.  Things are looking up.

DARE ME TO DRIVE?

Fuck, BE CAREFUL out there!

Irresponsible shit is my anti-dr...uh, wait a minute.

Eh, just read all of this, not sure what to say - im gonna try to speak in how i see things rather than argumentatebly so...

when i have posted "serious" writing on OKM i think ive been "respected", and i appreciate it, because its stuff i have invested time and work on it

on other boards such as apple talk and OMF ive gotten mixed responses and i usually just ignore it or make a quick jab and just move along.

this particular thread in AP i found to be bordering on what i call not "respectful" because it was specifically directed at me, and because i dont have that sense of enough closeness with those involved as to say "Oh, lol, my buddy is making fun of me" - its someone seeking me out and shitting on me and then a few others piling on with bigotry and grudges from another threads. I found it to be personal.

But then again, answering to that sort of topic, i should had seen it coming a thousand miles how it would turn out. After a point i just stopped replying to it because i was getting down to the level of just trying to make personal attacks, and thats just not my idea of interaction, im not too fond of flame wars.

I dont know if anyone suspects me of doing this, but i didnt PM any moderators nor ECH.

If there's a way we can scan her illustrations and do a proper layout, that would be really great.

First ones ought to be done by this weekend, and I'll post.  Someone can PDF it?

Sure

Sweet.  Thanks.  How much does that software cost, anyway?
THIS THREAD IS NOW ABOUT PUBLISHING SOFTWARE

I got it from a friend so I'll have to check with him

I wish PD could put 10% of the effort it did into, say, causing chaos at Goldman Sach's corporate HQ that it does into these terminally boring hissy-fit threads.

this is a much more eloquent and concise version of what I was trying to say.

Is this going to turn into one of those boards where we get public spankings by Big Daddy if we step out of line?

why is it that anytime I voice my opinion on board matters, I'm made out to be Mussolini-in-waiting? Am I not allowed to have and voice my opinion regarding these matters?

If you noticed, this thread is now about the fabulous possibility of getting a high-quality IRL publishing of the Spiders project.

It's about both.  It's about getting the project completed (2 pages done, 1 frame per page at the moment), and it's about the prospect of frequently getting publicly called on the carpet because ECH has supposedly received a flood of emails concerning how I - and notionally some others - am wrecking the board.

On the plus side, it's getting me in the mood to spend a bunch of time with my daughter on the project, and on the negative side, it's making me tired of hanging on, if I have a collection of assholes talking this kind of smack about me constantly, and without the guts to say something to my face, even in PM.

Either ECH said what he said because he wants to get my paranoia cranked back up for some sick reason, or he's on the level and there are "loads and loads" of people bitching constantly about how PD sucks and it's all my fault.

I'm unsure whether it's worth it, in either case.

it gets tiresome having to wade through your penchant for ultimate hyperbole.

I never said there were "loads of people PMing me to complain about you", I said I had received several PMs in the last few months concerning the direction and prevalent culture of PD.com. "Several", in this case, is about 8, but that's about 7 more PMs than I've received about anything else in the last few months so I thought it might be worth bringing up.

My bad, apparently.

The only way this could become an autocracy if ECH backed up his "dressing downs" with a ban.  Otherwise, he's just another poster with an internet connection.

If he started banning, then yes.  If not, he's no different than one of us telling someone else to cut the shit.

Apparently, you missed the post where he was considering shutting the board down due to these secret complaints.

I guess I missed that post too.

- pm'ing complaints to ECH is weak, if something is a problem bring it up or pm the person you have the problem with (re Cain behind the scenes discussions about the boards direction or mood (meta stuff) is not the same as complaining about it or planing administrative action, i expect you were doing the former)

Problem:  That isn't how it was presented last night.  It was presented that multiple people had PMd ECH talking about how shitty the board is, and who is responsible for that.

i don't know what Cains pm was like (i give him credit for not crossing into complaining or encouraging administrative action) i don't know what the other pm's were like either, but guess it was butt hurt noobs and forum softy's crying "why cant we all just get along"  both of which can be ignored,

if some noob or regular is being wrongly bashed they should (ideally) be able to appeal to reason and get everyone's support and not need to call on a big daddy to spank people for them

actually, they were all from posters that have been here a while and who I have at least a modicum of respect for, else I'd have never brought it up.

For the record, any noob who came crying to me via PM would get verbally bitch-slapped so hard there'd be a pixellated handprint on their monitor screen for days afterward.

apparently, though, I was wrong to address these concerns or to try to have any influence over the zeitgeist (I hate that word) of the forums. My bad.

you should have and voice an opinion

its not the opinion or the voicing that that bothers,  its the connecting it to ownership/admin that rubs people the wrong way i think,

if you had said the same thing speaking as a poster it might have gone over better...maybe...

(your opinions as a poster should carry weight they are usually high quality enough to warrant it..)
