The GOP are sociopaths.  I'm pretty sure Dick Cheney can only get it up to snuff porn.

Shooting his hunting buddy was actually an attempt at foreplay.

QuoteI know President Obama understands that getting Bin Laden doesn't mean an end to the war on terrorism but how about a smile? How about showing a little joy? How about a word or two saying something about how this is no doubt a happy or joyous occasion for Americans? We got nothing like that at all. Instead, we got Mr. Monotone. Mr. Bars and Tone. Mr. Non-Emotion.  President Obama missed an opportunity to connect with Americans last night.

So why did he announce the big news like he was reading the dictionary? You know the answer. It's because his speech wasn't so much aimed at Americans. He was being careful of how the "Arab Street" would interpret his remarks. Any hint of gloating or happiness might be rubbing it in the face of some of the crazies in the Arab World and heaven forbid we get them upset! How dare we Americans look like we're celebrating his death! The travesty of it all! Give me a break. Isn't it time to stop catering to thugs

If he had done this with any sense of "gloating or happiness" they would have accused him of acting unprofessional (rightfully so in my opinion)

Also, "We are not at war with Islam." = "Catering to thugs and arab crazies" therefore "All of Islam is thugs and crazies."

According to them he can't do anything right. No matter how he does something, they'll spin it in some sort of negative light.

YES!  Awesome.  Way to go, Redneck States and their pedantic, picking of nits ways.

What comforts me about this is the fact they'd have shit down his throat for doing exactly what they are saying they wanted from him last night.

The fact he signed the death warrant or whatever the fuck it is when he called in the strike on the military compound/mansion in Pakistan is just completely lost on those fuckers.  NOW, the timing and the good fortune the Obamites will reap from this for '12 campaigning is a real substantial if small thing to mention...but the whining that Obama hasn't been on it for the whole 10 years the "hunt" has been on is fucked up as well.  Totally misses the mark that Bush HAD 7 years to do this and fucking failed.  Or, rather "failed."

I'm a total cynic about this, but I still think it's a damned great thing he's dead ass dead.

I bet he read it from an autocue and everything.

I will never understand what it is about the furry fandom that attracts the most vile sorts of human beings.
Im pretty sure even the average ICP concert has more well adjusted mentally healthy people than a furry convention.

Oh, yeah, they're going to have to show that they're still relevant.  Hopefully, this means they'll rush the job.

Ok, hold on a second. What would you have preferred, that they put him in a glass box and tour his corpse around the country?

I would have.  And called it a "reverse-Lenin".  Or at least marched him up and down a suitably wide street in DC.

Still, I take your point.  "They" could have done this at any point in the last 10 years.  That it has happened now suggests, at the very worst, Bin Laden is in no poisition to contradict the US claims or, more likely and positively, he is in fact dead.

I'm fairly sure some of the claims about the firefight are bullshit.  I bet Bin Laden wasn't given a chance to come in peacefully, for example.  And he may have had someone with him to ensure he didn't fall into American hands alive, or to an American bullet.  But I'm fairly confident the overall facts of what happened are accurate.

QuoteAs the details continue to come in, there are several important points (and, at the bottom of this, several unimportant ones) to remember, and a remarkable new one to digest.

- The elimination of Osama Bin Laden was live-tweeted:

Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event).

That, for Sohaib Athar of Abbottabad, Pakistan (@ReallyVirtual) was when it started, around 4 PM Eastern time.

Go away helicopter – before I take out my giant swatter :-/

Closer to 5 PM Eastern:

A huge window shaking bang here in Abbottabad Cantt. I hope its not the start of something nasty :-S

Ear-witness to history. The details begin to come in to Mr. Athar:

the few people online at this time of the night are saying one of the copters was not Pakistani...

Tell me about it.

Since taliban (probably) don't have helicpoters, and since they're saying it was not "ours", so must be a complicated situation #abbottabad

I once left Palm Springs, California, at the exact moment students began to riot during spring break. My astonishment upon learning what I had seen is still fresh in my memory. That must've been nothing compared to Mr. Athar's growing awareness:

Two helicpoters, one down, could actually be the training accident scenario they're saying it was

This next one, about 10 PM Eastern, gives me chills:

Interesting rumors in the otherwise uneventful Abbottabad air today

Once again, all jigsaw puzzle parts are there. Only nobody knows that it's a jigsaw.

Report from a taxi driver: The army has cordoned off the crash area and is conducting door-to-door search in the surrounding

We are now past the time Obama's speech has been announced:

Report from a sweeper: A family also died in the crash, and one of the helicopter riders got away and is now being searched for.

Truer words never tweeted. And then comes this:

RT @ISuckBigTime: Osama Bin Laden killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan.: ISI has confirmed it << Uh oh, there goes the neighborhood :-/

I love this man.

Uh oh, now I'm the guy who liveblogged the Osama raid without knowing it.

Mr. Athar is, for now at least, The Most Interesting Tweeter In The World.
I suspect you're right, Cain.

I'm with you.

I'm glad they killed him, but along with some sense of closure, I feel a sense of dread about what happens next.

Rumsfeld is now saying the information "may have come from Gitmo".

:lulz:

Because OBL has obviously been hiding in the same place for 9 years.
