DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE NO FIRM MORAL COMPASS DERIVED FROM SCRIPTURE? YOU PUT BANANAS IN ORIFICES THAT THE GOOD LORD DID NOT INTEND.  THIS ATHEIST OWNED HIMSELF!!  TURN BACK FROM YOUR WAYS OR THE SAME FATE WILL BE UPON YOU!!!
Because it is entirely impossible that other athiests would think he is retarded and love the fact that he is now a joke in the eyes of the world.

Oh I heard him call his situation "Bananagate" on one of the vids on his channel.  I'm still trying to shake the spontaneous chuckles it gave me.

I am not truly an Atheist myself.  It seems like an unwarranted certainty that mirrors every other religion I've encountered.  I just felt very spirited and posted obnoxiously as a result.  I can't even watch his vids, he's far too whiny. About everything. And he clearly stuck a banana in his butt without proper training or personal protective equipment.

Your trophy should be a bronze cast of his tiny cock on a large pedestal that sprays coffee-scented ricin, rigged up with a photosensitive trigger. You earned it sir.  :)

I know that hope springs eternal, but wouldn't it be brilliant if the whole thing is a troll?

I mean, if that guy is totally just an invented character by an extremely shameless troll. Because pouring coffee and milk on yourself, smearing your ass with... god I hope that wasn't shit... and sticking a banana up your ass on video is something that seems to really cross the line between "guy who takes himself totally seriously" and "full on performance troll".

If by troll you mean, dramawhoring then maybe. He constantly needs to be the centre of attention or he starts posting mopey and depressed stuff.
He has not the mental capacity and wit to run it as a troll, also probably not. Not after some of people who knew him in real life professed him being a stalker.

Well, it's almost as awesome that someone exists who is actually that pathetic.   :lulz:

Hmm... I wonder if there's a secret group out there dedicated to defaming Atheists by making them look like weak, degenerate, obnoxious, so&so's.

There could be a whole new sector of conspiracy lore built around this.    :transmet::hi5::tinfoilhat::1fap:

:lulz:  :lulz:  :lulz:  :lulz:  Ahhh.. makes me laugh.

At least as much as The Unicorn In A Box defense of Atheism.  He did the right thing and cut the caller off to explain the source of the butthurt.

Truth is that I would be an Atheist if it was useful to me.  It's not.  If I truly went there as a paradigmatic choice I would probably just give up on the species entirely, and would have to deny my own experiences of Something from several differing perspectives.  For me the best choice is clear.

Empty your cup. You know nothing. From there do what seems right and good at all times.  If it seems that there's a supernatural influence in your world, go with it and don't freak out.  I've seen and experienced pretty intense things that my intellectual integrity will NOT allow me to call proof of God(or Whatever), but also won't allow me to write off my previous experiences and say I know what's up with the cosmos.

Atheistic Materialism only allows you the limited experiences of the senses and the intellect.  It cannot account for the totality of human experience.  It is irrational; we are irrational.  These gods of ours, "real" or not, affect human behavior in ways that change and sometimes end lives.  What could be more real than something that can cause another, or you yourself, to kill you?

Of course, I could be wrong.  If so it doesn't matter and we don't either.

You've had non-materialistic experiences, then?

You've had non-materialistic experiences, then?

I don't know. Maybe.

It's hard to account for things that defy my understanding.  I've seen possession phenomena of a few different flavors like Demonic, Pentecostal, Santerian, and miscellaneous.  They are neurologically and phenomenologically distinct from fakers.  I'm no neurologist, but It's my understanding that there's "nobody home" in the cortex when these things happen.  I'll try to find links to the study.

As phenomena the question becomes "Are the people reporting them reliable?"  If a person displays super strength and identifies itself as a known entity that the "victim" could know nothing about like Ishbaal(a demon's name meaning "man or servant of Baal") speaking through some ignorant ex-con and correcting the people questioning it angrily when they miss-hear the speech said as Isabel (the girl's name meaning "God's promise" in Hebrew) it makes me wonder. (true personal story and not the scariest I've had)  People seem to also display knowledge of people or events happening in another room and languages that they had no opportunity to learn in these states.

I know that the material is all that my brain has to work with.  I know that our understanding and ability to measure the material world is limited and the interpretation of the data likely flawed because of this.  I think it's less that I've had non-materialistic experiences than that there's a material physics to the "spiritual" world.  If there is such a thing.  If there isn't then it would seem the mind is powerful enough to make it real for multiple participants.

Have you ever had a questionably-materialistic experience Cain?

I am an atheist, but everything said in this thread about them is absolutely true.

And, hilarious.

I'm not an atheist.

Because being something indicates a set of values and beliefs, as PZ Myers has pointed out before.

I think I do have a set of values and beliefs, though I am not overly rigid about most of them.  But I am pretty much what your last line states anyway, Kai.
