It occurs to me that this is the one and only area in which Eartha is better than the rest of you. At least she cared, once. :lulz:

Pfft, you and Roger aren't real people. You can "handle everything" and don't have silly feelings to get hurt or weirded out. It's just the internet! It's le joke!

Something about people with "big personalities"/self-confidence/*something* that I'm looking for, people seem to assume they are made of stone. Not to say you and Roger are quaking in your boots, but it certainly is creepy and would be moreso if she was closer to home.

But it's ok, you can handle it, imaginary internet personality.

I am actually just a robot made out of balsa wood and slaughterhouse leavings.

QuoteThanks, Trippingprincess.  It's nice to know that someone gets it.

Not to say that a buncha other people don't get it, too, like Cain and ECH among others. It's just nice to see it spelled out.

But of course :)  And yea, I certainly don't have any delusions of playing hero and agree that Cain, ECH and others certainly get it. But it seems to be a recurring theme (which Cain & ECh, and possibly a few others seem to get lumped in to as well) and every so often, all the "WTF" and stupid pile up and I have to spew something, even if it's a relatively polite spewing.

QuoteBecause, really, when a crazy person is harassing you via PM so that there are no witnesses to their derangement, what are you supposed to do?

I mean, publicly mocking them always seems like a good start to me, but there are always a few naysayers who are all "Private harassment should stay behind closed doors" and "I'm sure he didn't mean it that way".

Fuck that.

Yea, solving a petty dispute "behind closed doors" is one thing. Maybe the odd crackpot email is funny, but not when it gets all crazy and stalker-y (maybe a little funny, but from a safe distance). Leaving it in PM makes it much more creepy as it's not an issue of private, personal harrassment and not "oh hey look what that stupid whackjob posted on the forum today!"

Or like when a client recently got really creepy with me over the phone, made such fun references as "if I can't pay the rent, you may find me sleeping next to the stairs at your work" and ended with "Please don't tell [boss's name], he'll really pissed at me". Hahahahaha riiight. Granted this was an IRL case, and he was probably just drunk and fucked up on pills, but a "harmless drunk/addict/nutjob" is only harmless until they're not (sometimes).
There's no sun shine coming through her ass, if you are sure of your penis.

Paranoia is a disease unto itself, and may I add, the person standing next to you, may not be who they appear to be, so take precaution.

If there is no order in your sexual life it may be difficult to stay with a whole skin.

Brrrrr

I would definitely be creeped out as fuck by that.

IMO when a conversation (one-way or otherwise) goes into creepy territory, it stops being a "private" conversation and starts being a "notify the authorities" conversation.

Or at least tell a good friend so that when you disappear one day, they they know who to question.

Also, in my experience, shining a good strong light on abusive/creepy/stalkery people really early on, before they've gotten too many ideas in their heads about what they're entitled to, is the best way to end the harassment before it goes too far. Think Lumberjim.

You two are pathetic.

How dare you attempt to involve him in this? Tell me in what manner he has had any part in any dispute you have ever had with me.Tell the whole forum just how you justify this calling him out in public on a board where I would warrant every regular user appreciates his contribution; his humour, his intelligence and his good nature.

Over something he has no knowledge of or control over.

Grow the fuck up and fight your own battles.

Still giggling about this.   :lulz:

When Eartha attacks, there are NO limits.  Nothing is out of bounds, or too low.

Then the silly asshole demands that everyone else stay within the bounds of decency.

Maybe she was trying to be witty? I didn't find it all that good, but there were a couple good zings. I hate it when someone gets one good rhyme or so then ruins it with stanzas of junk.

And there are so many better kinds of porn to relate to the good Dok, preggo porn *bleh* that's just weaksauce.

(Oh we know he kind of Porn Dok is really into and we can't even mention it here due to us being at a .com and under US Jurisdiction)

Ummmmmm

Given the context of abusive, vitriolic, rambling, semi-legible emails, I would not tend to think it was meant to be funny.

Seriously, this is the kind of situation where I'm only laughing because she's safely on another continent. If she lived locally it would be frightening.

Err 'wit' not humor, like some Cyrano de Bergerac wannabe.

And if the contents are that scary, my earlier attempt at being funny was inappropriate and I apologize.

Quite frankly, Rat, I can think of no circumstances where deluging someone's inbox with obsessive hate mail isn't fucked-up and scary, regardless of the content of the PMs. Can you?

Well, based on the initial posts... it sounded to me like a common 'fill up my enemies inbox with shit and piss them off' routine. That's not fucked up and scary, its mailbombing (childish and unimaginative). However, if the content of those have gotten to the point that its obsessive hate mail that really causes you concern for your welfare, then its way over the line, which is why I apologized.

Wow... if you think that's normal, you have become accustomed to some fucked up and abusive types of relationships, and I'm sorry.

For the record, folks, a "'fill up my enemies inbox with shit and piss them off' routine" is not normal; it's harassment, and it's creepy.

Its true, things have changed a lot since the early days. Hell, I remember signing people up for weird porn magazines, newsletters that were really horrible etc. I suppose the wild west has finally calmed down a bit :D

Like I said, I didn't mean to belittle this situation and I apologize for doing so.

Like I said, I didn't mean to belittle this situation and I apologize for doing so.

Keep in mind that I've been online for about 25 years now.

Do you seriously not see the difference between putting someone's email on a mailing list, and sending them vitriolic hate-filled personal emails?

Seriously? Even comparing the two displays an interesting and somewhat disturbing disconnect.

Let me see if I can make it more clear.

It's roughly analogous to the difference between ordering pizzas to be delivered to someone's house, and going to their house yourself every night to slip a handwritten note about how much you hate them under their door.

One is a malicious prank. The other is crazy obsessive behavior.

Christ, I go to EB&G and tell Charley to get rid of MY account, and why, and he says "please don't drag PD drama here".

I feel like I just saw Johnny Cash wimp out.  This is really fucking disappointing.  It's like seeing Willie Nelson join the teabaggers.

You know better than that on both accounts. We don't ban peoples' accounts on their request. And Eartha sure as hell DID deserve this. I saw some of the PMs she sent Nigel (never mind the ones she sent ME the last time she had an episode of bugfuck) and if she lived in North America I'd have a restraining order put in place against her.
